Tolerable for a night or two, impossible to recommend for longer stays. Huge impressive building with a fine view over Engelberg, a little distance above the centre and a series of lifts and tunnels plus a walk and bus ride to the ski lifts. Rooms in the new section seemed recently renovated, but my bed was too firm for comfortable sleep. Buffet breakfasts were mediocre but acceptable for short stays. Many guests are in large groups and only stay one night or maybe two. Dinners are also buffet style for all courses and were disappointing rather than awful. Most of the staff were professional and friendly and the place was clean and tidy, but management have a rigid adherence to archaic rules, as can be seen from the sign at the entrance to the restaurant and on tables - see photos.

Very beautiful hotel in an amazing location! The rooms were very clean and the views out of them were breathtaking. We were part of a tour group, so we had an assigned time for breakfast and could not eat outside of that time. The staff was professional and helpful and I will absolutely stay here again the next time I’m in Engelberg!

Thomas cook and Sotc both literally killed us by providing such hotel, where we have to walk long distance inside cave, then elevator then again walk in a cave then again walk some distance then elevator, saddest part is they give only one small trolley per fmly and we were 3 in a fmly so we literally had to drag our luggage this long distance, very frustrating and frightening experience for all 43 tourists in our coach. Thomas cook and Sotc are the culprits to choose such inconvenienent hotel. 3 nights were hell walking up and down to visit Mr. Titlis, Jungfraujoch etc. Such Tour operators discourage Tourists to visit again and are like back bitters for Tourism industry which are the backbone for any country, they play an important role of villain

The stay was perfect! They had a good breakfast, the view from the room was surreal, and you could get to downtown Engleberg by foot through a tunnel directly from the hotel! The hotel is so beautiful inside and out, it is clean, good parking, and a charming staff :))

Once you work out the lifts back into the village it is location is ok .The hotel rooms are decent size . All the staff were very helpful , polite and friendly. All the staff work hard but I just got the feeling that they make the best out of the budget limits that are put on them . needs a renovation .

I had breakfast include in my package and a Chef is coming to my table said to me i don’t have a table cloth something like below the plate which is their responsibility to make a table. He ask me to move to next door hall which is i had to carry all my plate and drink to next door. i said why not if ask other staff to carry with me to move then he said pick up yourself to move it in his voice its very rude to customer. We pay for our stay not for free here. This is not Swiss Class we think from outside.Very bad and Other staff came to apologies not the Chef who keep rounding the hall.

This hotel was love at the first sight, then disappointment on the second sight and love again on the third sight. Love at first sight because of the setting and the outside view of the hotel. A magnificent Belle Epoque building overlooking Engelberg and with a fantastic view of the Titlis. Disappointment at the second sight because the room was quite simple, breakfast was terrible and included some colorful cold eggs, the restaurant were we had our food was a big hall without any atmosphere and the first nights dinner was not specially good. In addition the signal of the internet did not reach our room. The safe was helpless because everyone could just open it using a generic code for those safes. No attention to detail. The Hotel caters to large groups of Indians, Coreans, Vietnamese, and other Asians who did not stay long, maybe a couple of nights. The elevators and common places smelled of exotic Indian spices. In general we had the impression we were in the wrong place. Love on the third sight again, because since we were staying one week, we gave the feedback about our disappointment specially with the food, and this area improved dramatically at dinner time. The friendly Chef from Germany prepared wonderful European dishes. Very tasty, we were spoiled, and this improvement made us forget the other things. In addition, we have started getting to know the history of this beautiful hotel, the difficulties it had since its creation. We understood why the market strategy is based on groups since otherwise this hotel would be empty in the sommer. The hotel and its history grew on our hearts. We ended up enjoying our stay at this hotel and we wish that future guests would take the time to learn about its history.
