Hôtel le Vauban

Booked 2 beds room with mother for a night stay, steam train from Nice, and although told check-in from 6pm, on arriving at 4pm hiking, trains limited schedules, hot sun (30°C) that there was absolutely no option to get into either hotel reception, restaurant nor room. All closed until 6pm. There was another couple annoyed as well. Rather than sit outside for 2 hours, or continue walking with the overnight bag in hot sun, I took ZOU train back to Nice. My mother who was arriving later, stayed. I cannot review the restaurant or accomodation, but feel disappointed by their check-in policy for a hiking outdoors village. I felt abandoned by their policy, no answer on phone, no option for self check-in/ lock box. The owner did call me in the evening, and explained his reasoning for 6PM arrivals but in the hospitality, hotel industry this is not acceptable. Beware of Limited Access on check-in. This review will ultimately be helpful for future bookings. There is no leeway.
