We were here largely to visit Zollverein and were not aware of the hotel's link to mining, which was a massive bonus. Really well-preserved features and the pinhead outside was real bonus (the car park of yet-to-be-sold new Mercedes cars less so) Excellent breakfast each day. Dinner on our first night was acceptable, bit we went across the road to the open air cafe/bar on our second night.

Ich habe für November 2025 für die Hochzeit meines Sohnes das gesamte Hotel Anfang Oktober per Abrufkontingent geblockt. Einige der Hochzeitsgäste haben sogar daraus gebucht, so auch ich selbst mit zwei Zimmern. Durch Zufall wurden wir heute durch die Buchung eines Verwandten gewahr, dass das Hotel im Sommer 2025 schließt. Also keine Buchung mehr machen!!! Die Inhaberin zeigte sich dann am Telefon auch noch völlig uneinsichtig, dass man das Gebahren unmöglich findet und sie nicht umgehend mich informiert habe. Eine Hochzeit plant man nicht von heute auf morgen, sondern mit langen Vorlaufzeiten.

Das Zimmer kostete 120,- €, das Früstück 14,- € pro Person, in Summe also 148,- € pro Nacht. Das Zimmer 11 war, vorsichtig ausgdedrückt, sehr schlicht ausgestattet und sehr klein. Die Minibar stand auf dem Fußboden, das Kabel lag daneben, konnte aber mangels nicht vorhandener Steckdose nicht angeschlossen werden. Die Einrichtung des Badezimmers hatte einen noch niedrigeren Standard. So war die Duschtasse mit einem Duschvorhang abgeteilt, der an einer wackeligen Duschstange aus Kunststoff hing. Die Lampe über dem Waschbecken wackelte ganz gehörig. Für den vorgenannten Preis war die Qualität des Zimmers und Badzimmers nicht akzeptabel. Das Frühstück war gut, das Abendessen ebenfalls. Das Ambiente der Lohnhalle ist sehenswert.
