A Mixed Experience at Ikos Andalusia – Great for Young Families, But Falls Short in Key Areas If you’re heading here with small children, you’ll likely find plenty to enjoy. The resort is beautifully landscaped, impeccably clean, and the staff are warm, friendly, and eager to help — a real highlight of our stay. That said, having previously visited Ikos Mallorca and been thoroughly impressed, we found Ikos Andalusia didn’t quite live up to expectations. There are definitely positives: the grounds are stunning, the pools are lovely, and the service from staff is consistently high. However, we encountered several issues that took away from the overall experience. The food was hit and miss — while some restaurants were excellent, others lacked the quality and variety we expected from a resort of this standard. The beach was a particular disappointment. The sand feels more like builders’ grit than soft beach sand, and there are drainage outlets every few hundred feet, which detracts from the overall atmosphere. Seating around the resort is stylish but impractically low and uncomfortable. One major downside was the persistent sewage smell in the lower part of the resort, which at times was genuinely overpowering. We also experienced a broken air conditioning unit in our room — and it took three days and several follow-ups to finally be moved, which was frustrating in the heat. It’s also worth noting that there’s nothing of interest immediately outside the resort. If you want to explore or even find a bit of local charm, you’ll need to take a taxi or use the shuttle to get to nearby towns. Overall, Ikos Andalusia has its strengths — especially for families with young children looking to stay within the resort — but it fell short of the high standard set by Ikos Mallorca, and we left feeling a little underwhelmed.
