Our room was in the lower level. There were 7 cars in the parking lot including the employee. Yet when we asked for a different room we were told they were booked up. Our room smelled very musty and the floors were freezing. So was the room. There was no heat coming from the radiator. The shower was glass and obviously dirty on the bottom. Here is a picture. The only power outlets in the room were in a narrow walkway at the foot of the bed. So there wasn't anywhere to plug in any of our chargers here is a picture.

We arrived during a snowstorm, so anything after the drive looked appealing! I'm sure this little guesthouse once was a shining gem in its glory, but as was noted by others in their reviews, it can use a good face lift on the outside. We were in the lower level where the door opened out to where we parked our SUV. THIS WAS A MAJOR PLUS since we were living from point to point on the Ring Road tour (staying at a different place each night). Plus, with the wind and snow, moving in for the night , it was helpful to be able to have quick access to our stuff. We picked up some food at a local sandwich shop on the way in, so we were set for the night. We also had problems with getting the door keypad to "wake up" so we could see the keypad and enter our code. I ran into the main floor upstairs and not a soul was to be found. I came back down and worked on getting the keypad to revive itself and eventually (maybe it was too cold for the battery). When I heated it with my hand, the keypad revealed itself and we could get in. We had to assist other guests as they arrived. While the exterior of the building could have used some carpentry and paint touch up, the interior was acceptable albeit the smallest of the rooms we had on the trip. Maybe the main rooms upstairs were bigger, but ours was a tight squeeze and probably would be tough for generously endowed people. On the plus side, it was cozy and beds were comfortable. Toiletries and hair dryer were all there and functional and there was a fridge and a large TV which worked brilliantly and had NETFLIX for our "room picnic" evening. Breakfast was adequate and the typical Icelandic fare. A single employee was there looking woefully overworked replenishing foods and plates. She was very sweet but frustrated in having to try to keep reviving the cold keypads the next morning when we tried to reenter the rooms downstairs after a cold and windy night. I am not going to be as harsh as previous reviewers because I read the reviews of all my options when selecting my stays while I was planning my trip. I had actually expected worse based on previous reviews. It was tight, but we are thin and it was cozy for our last night before heading back to Reykjavik.

We stayed here for one night out of eight in Iceland, and it was by far the worst hotel we stayed at. I'm not sure how it obtained a 3-star rating. We stayed in a "garden view" room, which apparently meant parking lot-view. The only available electric plug in the room was behind the bed (shown in picture) and the bathroom floor was coming apart (shown in another picture). The hotel highlights that it provides Netflix as entertainment, but they just have Netflix-capable TVs, like all modern TVs. The window wouldn't also close all the way. It's also strange that they have no reception desk -- you have to go to a centrally located telephone and press a button to talk to anyone. Breakfast was ok and there was a mini-fridge in the room.

We booked this room with a guide to Iceland tour, we were here around 4 PM. There were no workers in the building whatsoever. Mind you, the signs every where say “if you can’t find an employee for help one can always be reached” a lie. Our room code did not work, so we had to call a helpline (since you couldn’t call someone who worked there) to explain that we cannot get into our room. They told us that our room was a different room than what our email confirmation said. The new room had two twin beds and smelled like a dirty toilet! That’s not what we booked. We were supposed to be in a separate and private room with a single queen. I’ll also add that this is our honeymoon…. Separate beds don’t cut it. We spent two hours on the phone with an agency number that the hotel gave us to contact for emergencies. We could not get into our room. They tried putting us in another room, but couldn’t get the code to work on that room then the lock box told us it was almost out of battery and needed a new lock battery. The number we kept calling that the hotel gave us for help could not get a hold of anyone who worked in the hotel, which is ridiculous and not an actual hotel line then. And my husband ran back-and-forth between the building we were supposed to be in this one trying new codes, but the agency was giving him over and over again for an hour. We finally got settled into a room after 2 hours, went to take a shower and the shower drain wouldn’t drain, the whole bathroom floor flooded before we could even realize. Our cloths got soaked and long with some of our things. We haven’t even reported the bathroom problem because it would take 2 more hours to get anyone to help and we just wanted to sleep at that point. This was the worst hotel experience we have ever had and we are here for our honeymoon. Do not stay at this hotel they have no care to come out and help their guest who are staying here. They refuse to answer phones. They refuse to help and they cannot book rooms correctly.

Too far out of town and there’s a distinct lack of atmosphere and a lack attention to details. Cold showers!!!! The town is beautiful but this place it a long way out on its own and the facilities aren’t fabulous. The bed was lopsided and the ceiling sloped so we kept banging our head! To use the toilet we had to walk backwards Down a narrow walkway inside the ensuite!!!

We stayed overnight very nice setting and lovely room. Outdoor hot tub. Great bed so comfy. Would recommend if stopping on your Icelandic tour. Good breakfast if not a bit busy that there was not enough seats for everyone. View from hotel over local town at night is stunning.

What a wonderful place to land for four nights while visiting the spectacular sites to be found in northern Iceland. Lovely management and just the cutest little apartments around the corner from the main inn. Could not have imagined a better location, just outside the city and close to great restaurants. Perfect.

We stayed here for three nights in order to explore the surrounding area. Having had a long day travelling from Stykkisholmur, we were looking for a comfortable location and this hotel certainly provided that. It is under ten minutes driving from Akureryi and the views from the hotel back are superb. It is quite a small hotel and slightly off the beaten track but it is worth it. We were in an upstairs room which was quite large, being divided in to a sleeping area and a sitting area. We were provided with towelling robes and slippers in order to access the hot tubs on the decking outside. We didn't use this facility but many guests did during our stay there. Our host, Robert, was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was very good and constantly replenished when necessary. Car parking is on site and there are plenty of places to eat in the evening in Akureryi. We used the hotel as a base to tour the Husavik and Lake Myvatn areas which can be easily accessed on quick roads. The great advantage of the hotel for us was that there were no tour groups while we were there, just independent travellers like ourselves.
