Absolutely loved our stay here! The location is perfect—right by the river and close to beautiful gardens and stunning views. We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant; the food was incredibly delicious and way beyond our expectations, especially for the price. It felt like a fancy dining experience without the hefty bill. We had requested a non-carpeted room, and were so happy they accommodated it. The view from our window was just gorgeous. Everything about the place was peaceful, and the facilities were top-notch—jacuzzi, warm indoor pool, saunas, and even options to try golf or tennis. Overall, such a great experience for the price. We both left feeling relaxed and grateful. Thank you!

Our first visit in February was a bit of a disaster. We were told we could arrive from midday onwards to use the facilities so arrived at 2pm planning to have a swim and use the hot tub. However on arrival we found all this to be closed, had we known that we would have rescheduled the date. The pre booked meal wasn't great and the dining experience was very underwhelming. After a disappointing visit we emailed the team to say we were less than impressed and they offered us a complimentary stay which we booked for April. What can I say?! It was a much more successful visit. We had a lovely swim, used the hot tub and the sauna. We chose not to eat in the hotel but took a walk through the beautiful gardens and on to the pub. The rooms here are lovely, the staff are mostly friendly and helpful with the exception of a couple of young ones in the dining room. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge playing cards. The pool was a tad chilly. We did use the spa treatments on our first visit and they were all amazing.

I was quite disappointed by my stay here. I visited on the 7th night of an 8-day, 100-mile walk on the South Coast Path. On previous nights, I stayed at small, moderately priced guest houses and was looking forward to a bit of luxury at Budock Vean. In contrast to all the other places I stayed in Cornwall, where I got a very warm welcome each evening, I was barely acknowledged by the front desk staff at check-in. He did not greet me, but asked curtly for my surname and credit card, took an imprint of my card, handed it back, then said he had assigned it to the wrong room and had to take it again, without apology. When he asked me what time I wanted breakfast, I said 8:15, and he said there were no slots then, so I could have 8:30. I said OK to 8:30, and he said, No, 9:00. My "signature" room was spacious, and the bathroom was clean and bright. However, the carpets, walls, and upholstery were quite worn and stained (see photo of the chair below). This was an unpleasant surprise. I made a dinner reservation for the terrace, but when I showed up at the time I had reserved, the staff again refused to acknowledge me. I stood at the entrance, by the bar, and when I asked to be seated, the staff told me rudely that I would just have to wait, which I did for more than 10 minutes. The food took a long time to arrive after I ordered. I had crab salad, which was mushy and bland, and was drowning in mayonnaise. At breakfast the next day, again, it took more than 15 minutes for anyone to take my order after I was seated. I was given a dirty teacup and a tarnished fork. Because I had experienced warm Cornish hospitality at all the other places I stayed, I was especially disappointed. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. However, I had the distinct impression that as a female hiker travelling alone, albeit with resources to pay for a signature room at Buduck Vean, I was unwelcome there. I would not return, or recommend it to any of my friends or family, all of whom would apparently lack the pedigree to stay here.

We had a lovely overnight stay, used the pool, spa which was great & relaxing. Our room had a beautiful view, was large and comfy, although we heard a little noise from fellow guests it didn't impact our stay, the tea/coffee selection was bountiful too.

Yet another perfect stay at Budock Vean. We visit twice a year, and as always we received a warm welcome from the team, especially Anda and Wendell at reception. The rooms are lovely and beds are super comfy; we had a great view over the golf course too. We always look forward to the delicious breakfasts, especially the cooked breakfast and the salmon and scrambled eggs! This hotel is in the perfect location in the stunning Helford Estuary, peaceful yet walking distance to the SW coast path, Glendurgan and Trebah, near to Falmouth, Helford, lots of amazing beaches and so many other attractions. Look forward to seeing you again when we return in May!

We have visited this hotel many times and have always considered it our go to place. No more there has been a change of ownership recently. We knew this and were expecting change. What a disappointment. We have a lovely room and the staff are wonderful but our evening meals have not been good. This three course meal (they say four but the fourth is coffee and mints!) costs £49.00. In no was is this worth even half if that amount. Most of the guests here seem to be returners but I wonder how many will return again. Budock you really need to listen to your guests, many who have been loyal for years. So very disappointed “

I found this superb hotel on Trip Advisor. I had booked for 4 nights and was fortunate to be upgraded to a Signature room, with a wonderful view of the golf course and grounds. The room is very spacious with a 6ft bed, beautiful linen and covers. Comfy bed and pillows. Wonderful thick curtains. The sparkling clean bathroom and separate toilet were newly fitted and spotlessly clean. Lots of white fluffy towels and 2 bathrobes/slippers. There were beautiful Elemis products to use. Large selection of tea and coffee supplied in the room. It was special to be able to swim in the stunning pool, every morning, mostly on my own, followed by a sauna or foamy hot tub outside in the Autumn sunshine.

I stayed overnight as a solo guest on a weekend. I felt completely safe whilst at the hotel at all times. I opted to have room service in my room as I wanted some peace and quiet! I did have to go to reception to find out what menu I could choose from but they were helpful and took my order whilst i was there. The food was absolutely delicious, one of the best meals I had ever eaten. I will say however that the portion sizes were small and I was pretty much hungry the entire duration of my stay. The room was spacious and relatively clean. The bathroom was modern and light. I was really impressed by the fact the hotel room was actually warm as I usually find them to be cold upon entry. The hotel was extremely quiet at night and I enjoyed looking over the golf course as the sun set. The breakfast menu was quite limited in my opinion. It was basically cereal, yoghurt, croissants and hot cooked breakfast, which again was nothing extensive. I asked for a plate of bacon, tomatoes, sausage and potatoes and literally recieved a plate of one of each item.. But it was all cooked thoroughly and again was very tasty and well seasoned. Although I didn't ask for much during my stay, I got the impression that nothing was too much to ask for and every staff member I came across were polite and pleasant.
