Waterwheel Workshop

The room itself very clean and nicely decorated but the place isn't what the pictures show, there's no common area overlooking the town, no common area/view at all. The owner left the key on the table for me so I didn't meet anyone. The WiFi is all in Chinese so I couldn't use it. The AC is super noisy and works on and off. But the bed was comfy, towels/kettle/toiletries etc were all there and it's very cheap so overall it was fine

Highly recommended for solo female travellers. Near to the riverside to stroll along. Staff is helpful and very efficient. Room is spacious and clean. Has television, air conditioner, hair dryer and electrical jug.

Owner is amazing and a very good person. We’re still in touch. Recommended local foods to eat and even offered me drinks and some street food! Very helpful about what you can see around the area too, and takes you to places if he has time instead of just saying “go there” Room has everything you need and is good for its location and price. I think someone else brought up the squat toilet — for us foreigners, do be aware that it is a squat toilet (at least in my room) and the water from the shower drains into it. This is common in older places in China, and it is clean. Make your own decision whether that’s a problem for you. Overall, amazing host and this is where you should go if you want a more “family/friends” feeling instead of just somewhere to stay for the night. There’s also a hangout area on the roof with a great view. The owner is an amazing singer and plays guitar, and also sings and speaks a bit of cantonese. Thank you for a great time! I will miss you. Come to NZ someday!

This hotel is amazing. The host is very available, kind and helpful. You walk 2 minutes and you see the best sights of the city. recommended
