Tru by Hilton Florida City

I remember when this property was being built several years ago and I had hoped to experience staying here one day... Well, that day came and a biz trip with my brother. The front desk clerk, Luis, was incredibly helpful in resolving a room issue that we had. He was awesome! The property is very, very clean. There is great attention to detail. See photo. It is located mostly in an industrial area but there are plenty of places to get something to eat within walking distance and driving distance. There's a farmer's market restaurant across the street (west side) as well as a modest craft brewery biz across the north side of the hotel. And even a Cracker Barrel that's been there forever, within a two minute walk on the east side of the hotel. The interactions that I had with hotel staff were very pleasant. The rooms were also very clean and comfortable. This Tru by Hilton hotel Florida City, is mostly rated at 3 star (maybe due to location), but my stay is rated as 5 star! I do look forward to returning again in the future.

Everyone is friendly and accommodating. My room was changed from what I had picked for check-in but they kept it close to where I had originally booked. Breakfast was good, beds comfy. Easy to find and convenient. Be sure to sign up for Hilton honors account- they’re getting better and more creative with their rewards.

Floor was dirty and felt like it was coated in furniture polish or something. Very slippery. Staff is not empowered to handle customer service. Then general manager apparently covers this as well and the neighboring property. Seems like all of the front desk staff is young and has no experience. When you check in you have to request daily service and extra towel sets daily. They won’t service your room otherwise. When we asked about what to do with the dirty towels and trash we were told by staff to just put it out in the hallway. This does not sound safe but more like a hazard in the event of an evacuation as well as attracting un wanted infestation of Florida roaches.

Our room is the tiniest hotel room I have ever seen. No coffee or coffeemaker, no plastic cups, no ice bucket. The TV never worked. Hotel is on a VERY noisy street. Sounds of motorcycles all night. Very sketchy neighborhood. Would never feel safe going outside on foot to find dinner. No staff at front check-in desk.
