Warm, Welcoming, and Full of Charm Had a fantastic stay at the Tribute Hotel in Frederick. Terra at the front desk was incredibly kind and welcoming—she made us feel right at home and shared great details about the hotel's rich history. The building is beautiful, full of character, and the robes were unbelievably comfy as was the bed. A perfect mix of historic charm and thoughtful hospitality! Little confusing finding the room but to be expected being built in such a historic building. Thank you for letting your front desk staff sit. Sets a good vibe for everyone.

We recently stayed at Visition for a family wedding. We were so hopeful that it would be a great hotel option in the heart of Frederick, but our experience was very disappointing. My husband and I booked a Traditional Studio, while the bride had the Bridal Suite. High-level issues were: - The in-room telephones did not work in either room. The front desk told us at checkout that the phones had 'not been connected yet' in the area of the hotel where our rooms were situated. - Various electrical outlets did not work throughout both rooms. This was a bigger deal in the bridal suite, where they needed all available outlets. - The A/C in our room did not function. All but 1 window was painted shut. - The hallway of our building was being used as storage for multiple Ruggable boxes. - A large portion of the parking lot was being used for construction staging, which was not evident from the website. The largest issue that prompted me to write this review was that the fire alarm went off twice while we were there. The first time it went off, I was in the shower, and exited the building with only a towel on. Five staff members were milling about, waiting for the fire department, and not one of them offered to get me a robe. I eventually entered the room with the alarm blaring to get a robe myself, but I remembered that I was on view for all the other guests and the construction crew. The alarm went off the second time very late in the evening. There was no discernible reason for the alarm to go off either time, and the comments I overheard suggested that the alarm was faulty. I attempted to share my experience with Mariott before writing this review and was told someone from the hotel would reach out to me within 7 days. When that didn't happen, I followed up and received a brief email saying they would address the issues and that they had credited us approximately $20 in points. I am not satisfied with the resolution, nor do I believe they will promptly address the issues we experienced. I would not stay here again anytime soon.

Great location but not a great stay…. We were in an extended stay room that was huge, but not very soundproof - the windows were closed but it sounds like they were open - we could here every conversation as well as the incessant beeping of the construction equipment at th 7am next door. The room also has an unnecessarily complex multi-day multi period thermostat which was easily tripped when trying to adjust it at night. The hotel itself is located right in town, but the address has gps routing to an entrance that is closed off, so you have to go about 5 blocks to get to the other side. Parking is only valet or you can use the nearby parking garage (valet was no help telling us where to park). The bar/dining room was quite impressive with very high ceilings and decorations, but is sadly way too loud with all those hard stone services. The staff (Karen) was a shining star and helped us out - she was the only one we saw.

While the staff, bat tenders, and valet workers were great and so nice and friendly, and the atmosphere was wonderful and we loved our room, the water pressure was low and we could hear the people above us. In addition, I give a 1 for the management. At the time I made the reservation, Visitation was offering a grand opening special that includes 10% off the best available rate, $100 dining credit at their restaurants, a Tenth Ward Distilling visit with a complimentary flight, and a 750ml bottle of Maryland rye whiskey. Since I was making my reservation for a couple of months later, I contacted Visitation to see if I would still qualify for the special. I received an email from Kyle Bower who said, “if you are staying Sunday through Thursday it would apply and you are able to book now.” He provided a link to use which I used to make the reservation. After arriving and nothing in the package being offered, I inquired about it. The front desk saw the emails between me and Kyle and inquired and told me she talked to three managers and they said it wouldn’t be possible to give me the package because I must have not pressed the right button when I made the reservation, but I could pay a bottle of the whiskey for $120. When I used Kyle’s link he provided and made my reservation the only button was to make the reservation. At the time there were no other “buttons”. To add insult to injury, I went to the distillery and got the same bottle of whiskey for $45, not $120 like the managers graciously offered to sell me. I stayed the required Sunday through Thursday. This really leaves a bad taste in my mouth and may not ever come back to stay even though I have family in the area.

This hotel has one of those rare combinations: Unique historical charm plus great 21st century comforts. The rooms are spacious, quiet, and very well appointed. From the Nespresso machines in each room to the cushy robes, you'll feel like you're in a luxury resort. But the thing that makes Visitation stand out most is the staff. They go out of their way to help guests with everything and make them feel welcomed. Because Visitation is such a beautiful property, it attracts a lot of weddings and other large events. That means you may have to wait a long time to check in or get your car from the valet. (You really don't have a choice with parking: The alternative is a public garage several blocks away.) The crowds can make staffing challenging, which is why I was especially impressed with the level of care and service they provide for every guest. From the front desk to housekeeping to the valets, everybody was warm and professional. The management of this hotel deserves a lot of credit. There really is no place quite like Visitation in Frederick. The Tribute Portfolio brand within Marriott has a lot of nice properties that feel like boutique hotels. This is one of the nicest Tributes I've stayed in and I highly recommend if you want a true downtown Frederick experience. Pro tip: Insist on staying in the main building. The property has an adjacent building with nicer suites. Unfortunately, it overlooks an active construction site where the loud work begins early (as of spring, 2025).

The room was elegant and beautifully designed. I will stay again. The location was in the heart of downtown Frederick and restaurants and boutiques are walkable. I found parking in the nearby garage and there is also valet parking. Acorn Provisions and Wye Oak Tavern and Steakhouse are exceptional. I would view nothing less from Bryan Voltaggio.

We had a wonderful stay at the Visitation and we are so happy that Frederick has a boutique hotel in the middle of historic downtown. The location can't be beat as you can walk to cute shops and several different types of restaurants. The staff was kind and attentive and Dayna, one of the managers, went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We were the first to stay in a newly opened section and it felt like we had our own row house on W. Church street. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we loved the charm of the building. We will definitely be back.

Stayed in room 413 which is the top floor and faces the front of the hotel. A very nice room. If you want to eat at the restaurant, make a reservation. Otherwise, there are many other good choices within walking distance. The staff is very friendly. There are no refrigerators in the room. Expect to pay extra for valet only parking... $25 for one night stay (plus tip) - not sure if this is a flat rate for any length of stay. Kind of steep for a small town, IMO. I would stay here again.

We loved the historic nature of the hotel and how the interior incorporated photos and memorabilia from the original girls' school into the decor. We also enjoyed the original artwork in the hallways. The hotel is walking distance to everything downtown, which was fantastic. However, our room was one of three in the hotel that is on the ground floor directly in front of the valet parking area. The large windows in the room faced faced a walkway and driveway. Due to the constant foot traffic on the walkway, construction happening across the driveway, and valet parking cars in the driveway - we had a total lack of any privacy. We were unable to ever open our blinds - it reminded us of staying at a roadside motor lodge, which we did not expect out of the experience considering the $400/night price tag on the room. We asked the front desk if it was possible to be assigned another room in any other area, but were told it was not possible. At a minimum, these three rooms (102, 104, and 106) should NOT be considered "deluxe" rooms and be offered at a lower price. Due to the historic nature of the building, the walls are thin and the spacing under the doors is wide. We were able to hear every word of the conversations of the couple in the adjoining room. We did not spend much time in the room due to the aforementioned lack of privacy so it was not a large issue for us, but certainly something to consider if that is important to you. We would not stay here again unless we could be guaranteed a room on the second floor or higher.
