After several nights you will of course notice one or the other shortcoming. For us, however, everything is still at a level where it seems appropriate to the style. Very stylish overall and the professionalism and the way most of the staff deal with the guests is at a good level. In fact, you can't ignore the P/L. Not the right thing for everyone, but even the location is a great compromise for us.

It was my first visit to Madeira and this lovely hotel came recommended by my travel agent. I was looking for somewhere comfortable and friendly and the hotel more than delivered on my expectations. It's set up in the hills above Funchal with fabulous views of the bay. I booked half board and found the food excellent. The room was large with views of the garden. But what makes the hotel really special is its wonderful staff. Special thanks to Carina for her exceptional service at breakfast and dinner and Ricardo on reception who helped me book excursions. The hotel also runs a shuttle service into Funchal during the week- although the local buses stop nearby. And there is a lovely pool and sauna, both of which I enjoyed. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic hotel. Exceptional service with very friendly staff who are always ready to help. Delicious food with 3 choices of where to eat - all being excellent. Pool, gym and jacuzzi all very clean and relaxing. Superb gardens and well maintained tennis court. Highly recommended.

A quiet, charming restful small hotel. Lovely gardens, friendly staff and the room with a balcony was spacious and comfortable, and I would love to return. Excellent three restaurants. Hotel shuttle bus always on hand to go into centre. The swimming pool was too cool !

Very traditional hotel with an old world feel and lovely decor. We had a superior room with a small balcony and a partial view of Funchal. Half board was our option for 11 nights. The 4 course dinner was at 7.30pm sharp every evening. Hotel is located some distance from the center of Town adjacent to a large social housing complex and close to a shopping center. Positives are the excellent staff, the rooms and gardens and the standard of cuisine. Of the negatives, the location and lack of after dinner options.
