Ultimo Mulino Wellness Country Hotel

Charming Hotel and grounds. Perfect for couples, relaxing. Most professional, helpful and nice staff. Very good breakfast and dinner. The only drawback is that you need to take the car for everything because of the somewhat remote location but the hotel and experience are definitely worth it!

Based upon what the rooms cost, one would hope to have air conditioning that worked effectively and didn't rain all over our belongings inside our room. While Alessio did everything humanly possible to fix it, he was able to move us to a comparable room a day later where the air conditioning was better (when supported by a fan). The breakfast assortment was very good including scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages as well as assorted fresh fruits, breads and yummy pastries. The location was good for folks who want to visit lots of wineries and also be close to the primary roads. Alessio was helpful in every and any way possible. Alexandra, on the other hand, could barely be bothered to look up from here phone and, when she did, she was not terribly pleasant. We won't be coming back.

Very scenic hotel and nice building. Good pool. WiFi works but is only in main area. breakfast was reasonable. Staff were friendly. The room was a bit dark but otherwise comfortable and perfectly fine. Not sure what wellness stuff was on offer.

While charming to look at, we found this hotel uncomfortable and less than friendly and accommodating. The receptionist was decidedly unfriendly and had a terrible cold when we arrived. We arrived around 3 PM and were very hungry, having missed lunch. She said no restaurants in the area were open and there was no food service there until dinner. Finally, she begrudgingly offered to fix us a meat and cheese platter with some bread and wine, saying, "But, you will have to pay for it." ( No price was quoted, and it turned out to be pricey. We hoped she would smile once she felt better, but over the coming days her attitude did not improve. There are no elevators and there are some steep stairs. No one is there to help with your luggage, so be prepared. There is a long and pretty steeply inclined exterior ramp leading up to a back door that is an alternative to the stairs. We were on the second floor and it was an effort for us. The place is cold!!! There is no heating and no air conditioning despite their advertising and reservation confirmation quoting that it exists. When we asked we were told there was none available. We were provided with an extra blanket, but being in the room was not comfortable. You can see daylight between the slats of the door to the patio off the room. So drafty and cold is what we got. There is no bathroom exhaust fan. Instead, there are two little windows that open to the back yard of the property. Anyone walking by can have a peek in to see you as you step out of the shower! The bathroom pipes gurgle loudly and make noises off and on all night long. To stop it, you have to get up and run water. We ate at their restaurant the first night. The selection is limited, it is expensive, and we chose to go elsewhere after that.

This is the first negative review I’ve been compelled to write. My recent stay at Ultimo Mulino was far from a pleasant experience. The hotel recently acquired another property, Borgo Le Noci, which is located a significant distance away from the main property where all the amenities are situated. This left us stranded at a remote location without any means of transportation. No photos of this new property were listed on the site or provided beforehand, otherwise I would have booked elsewhere. This hotel is basically totally separate from Ultimo, which is the hotel we thought we were booking. They pitched it as a “new building” which I imagined meant updated/renovated. Our room was much smaller and darker than anything shown on the website. It was also not clear that our room shared a kitchenette with another room—of course this was out of the hotel’s control, but the other room left their damp towels all over the dining table and chairs making it unusable to us. It was also unclear if the other room used all the plates, cups, and napkins.. or the hotel had not provided any, because the kitchen was completely empty. To make matters worse, our room was far from satisfactory. Upon arrival, we were greeted with an incredibly dirty bathroom. The toilet had clearly not been cleaned, and there were dozens of dead flies on the windowsills. It was evident that the previous guests had used some of the toiletries, which were not replaced. This lack of cleanliness and attention to detail was utterly disappointing. We contacted the staff and requested an upgraded room at the main property, which we were willing to pay more for, but their response was disappointingly slow. It took them over a day to get back to us, only to inform us that everything was fully booked. At dinner, I got the wrong meal and there was no attempt to give a discount or a comped dessert to make up for it. This lack of responsiveness and disregard for customer satisfaction was truly disheartening. In conclusion, I would strongly advise against staying at Ultimo Mulino. The misleading information regarding the location, the uncleanliness of the room, and the lack of responsiveness from the staff all contribute to an overall negative experience. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a better hotel that can provide a more enjoyable stay in this beautiful region of Italy.

Amazing staff that really went the extra to make sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Great food and wine with a quirky feel. Really is a small boutique hotel in every way. Only two to three staff. Rooms are quite small but fantastic as a base for touring the wine region. Philip and “sugar” (sorry about the translation) are really knowledgeable and always happy to help.
