Gelang Patah Hotels with Pools

Overall a Nice beautiful hotel but was a bit disappointed when I cannot check in on time at 3pm due to room not yet ready. The queue was so long nd took mother 1.5 hours to be given a room. This is something that really needs to be seriously look into as everyone is not happy without a room ready.

Big room. Clean place. Safety and fridge at room. Variety breakfast. Good wifi. There is also sauna but not showers there. Also pool. Maybe sauna area would be better if there were showers and some chairs etc. It wasnt really cosy place so we skipped the sauna. There is few food places around but not much. Also some busses leaving other side of the road. At least to Singapore. Legoland is about 13km away. You can get grab there. Reception will take deposit 100myr.

Forest City Marina Hotel is a resort hotel by the sea with a view of Singapore. The receiptionist are very polite and helpful. We checked in at the hotel on 17 October 2020 and the whole check in process was fast and took us less than 10 minutes from queuing to getting the room keys. The room is very spacious and big. It is equipped with wifi connectivity, big screen tv, a variety of tv channels, a chiller, bathrobes and complimentary mineral water. The bathroom/toilet comes with a bathtub and separate shower and the size is big and spacious. The room also have a balcony facing the seaview and Singapore. The downside of the hotel: 1. It’s located very far from JB city and after 8pm, the Forest City seems to be a dead city. 2. Some of the facilities are not open to the public(eg. Only one swimming pool is open out of the many swimming pools, facilities around the resort are limited to the Marina Hotel and many shops are closed) 3. Some of the equipment/in room facilities require repair eg. Shower head 4. Aircond is not switched on in many areas(maybe due to low occupancy) The positive part of the hotel: 1. Very friendly and polite staff in the hotel from receiption, restaurant, security guards to the housekeeping team. Good job everyone. 2. The room is neat and tidy. Sufficient towels and amenities are provided. 3. Operator/receiption answer the phone call within three rings 4. They have promotion set meal at rm20 each which is affordable.

We chose apartments with a pool or beach. I had to urgently look for and book these apartments, as the previous ones were canceled 3 days before arrival. The location is as secluded as possible, as it is located on an artificial island directly opposite Singapore. We met very few people even though we were there on the weekend. The apartments have everything you need: kitchen, dishes, good mattresses, bed linen and towels. Check-in is contactless (they left the keys in the mailbox, sending us the code for the locker), they sent detailed instructions with WiFi passwords, door code, etc. The only problem was with the door to the bathroom - apparently it had dried out and did not close well, but I think this is a solvable issue.

Great stay experience

Positive feedback: *Unit 4105 was generally well maintained and clean. *Was concerned that the unit may have cigarette smoke smell since smoking is allowed, but am thankful we didn’t find any malodour issues with it.     *In terms of housekeeping, response from the team was quick - when I requested for additional floor mats and when I mistakenly enquired about provision of bath towels. *We could get pretty nice views from the unit and the location is convenient to walk to the financial hub, food eateries/restaurants, KK Mart, beach, etc2.     Opportunities for improvement: *Had to follow-up and ask for check in info, which was sent just before 2.00pm on day of check in. *Check in was delayed until about 4.30pm; was made to wait, follow up and chase, with reason given that property was fully booked the day before and there were too many units to clean! *Check out time was revised from 12.00pm to 11.00am, but notification was sent through whatsapp at 9.20am on check out day, which I was not aware of until about 11.09am when I check my messages. (Note: But pic agreed when I said we will check out at 12pm since we check in late and they informed us late about the change of timing.)

The environment is OK, there are few surrounding facilities, and the furniture in the room is very simple

all the furniture and appliances like hair dryer and water heater look like new and clean, the great view from the balcony can calm your mind
