Alpengasthaus Griesner Alm

We may be the only people to arrive at the Alpengasthaus by bicycle (not e-bike). It was NOT an easy trip and we had to push the bikes up quite a few of the hills on the road in. Luckily, the hotel staff kept the kitchen open for us, so we were able to get a delicious dinner despite our late arrival. There was not a special place for us to store our bikes so we locked them to the side stairs where they were under the roof overhang and stayed out of the rain. There is, however, a special room for drying wet gear, which came in very handy. Everything was great but the best thing about this hotel is location, location, location. The surrounding mountains and open space are just beautiful. On the way out the following day, when it wasn't raining, we took a footpath - the "Schnackler adventure trail" - that parallels the road but offers a variety of family-friendly stops/activities. I would love to go back someday and spend several days there.
