Hotel Chopin

The hotel is in an excellent location close to the central railway station, people at the reception are friendly and ready to help . We had a nice stay in a spacious ,clean and quiet room. Strongly recommended. Maybe breakfast should be a little bit better

Its closeness to Piazza Principe railway station was the main reason for me to book this hotel. It is located in a traditional building. Reception was helpful and after asking I got a good recommendation for a nearby restaurant with Ligurian food. I was also given a map together with the WiFi password and a code for the hotel entrance - a door next to the one for the reception. My room was on the second floor and it was obviously meant as a single room. It had a view towards the street, but with closed windows it was quiet at night. A/C worked well, when I arrived, but no more at night, when I was cold in my bed with just a thin blanket. There was no spare blanket around. The room had a writing desk and an empty fridge, but no complimentary bottle of water was offered. WiFi worked well. In the bathroom there was liquid soap by the washbasin and for the shower a small bar of soap and sachets with shower gel and shampoo. Breakfast on the ground floor is served as of 07.30. It had a small buffet with juices, fruit yoghurt, butter, jam, processed cheese, boiled eggs and cakes. Missing were fresh fruit. The man in charge asked me, if I wanted extra salami, ham and cheese. Also the coffee was brought by him. TV was switched on with a news channel.

Yes if you went by the exterior, you would walk on. Bad move, this is an excellent 2 to 3 star hotel. Nice room with modern TV and a/c. Being next to the rail station, this is a bonus, especially if you have luggage . Easy walking distance. Plenty of restaurants and stores close by.

The hotel is great, everything was good, we stay here for 3 night and we will come back for next year. Rooms are clean, location is close to sea and railway station. The people who work there are so nice and helpfull. Thank you for this time. See you next year.

Hotel Chopin provides a very basic spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Room 28 is on the backside, but that is near the busy ringway. The isolation rubber of the window needs to be repaired. Not closing properly. The cushion was too small for me. The matras is protected by some plastic covered under the sheet. The height of the shower was too low for me. The noise kept me from a good night sleep. Breakfast starts at 7.30, but the very friendly staff proposed to prepare it at 7., which was anyway too late for me. It is typically a hotel for when you need to take a train next morning. But I would look for a hotel which is on a quieter spot. There is no supermarket or small store nearby and neither in the station, strange. In the neighborhood you have trattoria Mario for Dinner. I personally don’t recommend it. See my review. Not expensive, but not very good either.

Perfect location just steps from the Plaza Principe train station and a short walk to the port. Nothing fancy. Just the basics: Comfortable bed, warm shower, toilet and a solid breakfast. I would especially recommend for a short stay in Genoa or an overnight stay before your cruise ship leaves.
