Stylish and comfortable room in a beautiful setting. Friendly and efficient service. Good choice of reasonably priced food and wine on the dinner menu and great breakfasts. Lovely walks straight from the hotel and the walking guides available from reception are accurate and easy to follow. We were sad to leave!

Booked in for a family meal on Monday the 9th which was my first visit to the Pig. The surroundings and building were lovely. The waiting staff, particularly the floor manager were fantastic, friendly and informative. The food was excellently presented and tasted lovely. This venue is a real hidden gem. I will definitely be returning and thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting a special evening in a special location.

The Pig at Combe has been out happy place over the past 7 years but our recent visit was so disappointing. Opening the door on arrival to a blazing fire and friendly staff was such a joy as always but as the stay wore on we felt increasingly ripped off. Lunch in the Bothy was not very friendly and a glass of sparkling wine at an eye waterIng £16.50! we started to get a sinking feeling. Back to one of the sitting rooms to tuck up on this cold day to find the fire laid but not lit (a first). Our room was fabulous as always but the evening meal was incredibly expensive and not very good and very cramped. The final straw was to find a £3 charge for tap water on our bill. It is such a shame that The Pig appears to have lost their focus and USP that the customer is valued.

We have visited here for the last 4 years for my sisters birthday. But following the latest visit we wont be returning again. More than happy to pay these kind of prices when the food is worth it, but id describe the food as ‘fine’, which i dont feel is good enough for a £38 main course. The service was also slow and one member of staff really grumpy. We had brought a cake for my sisters birthday, but we had to ask for the 4 times before it was bought to the table (we had all had 3 courses and coffees, so it was not as if was because they thought we were having it instead of paying for pudding) They have tried to cram too many tables in to the main dinningroom, tables were getting annoyed at each other that they were in the way of each other The location, building and interiors are lovely. I feel like they are relying in The Pig name and reputation and becoming greedy and very complacent.

The location of this Elizabethan Grade 1 listed manor house is perfection, down a long drive, surrounded by beautiful countryside. We were here to celebrate my husband's birthday and had room 16, which is huge, beautifully appointed and with a four poster and roll top bath in the room, plus a great bathroom too. Service here is very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff smile and seem to really enjoy working there. The bar, set in the oldest part of the house had an open fire and the bar staff get all the orders out promptly, despite having to make lots of excellent cocktails. Outside, the lovely gardens have some beautiful specimen trees, and the Folly restaurant is very pretty, we did not have enough time to fit in a meal there. The kitchen garden is full of fresh vegetables and fruit, which is used in the restaurant and really enhances the menu. We had two meals in the restaurant, both very good. My husband is Coeliac and the waiters were very helpful with this. As a vegetarian it would have been nice to have a little extra choice but what I did have was lovely, my husband said his food was well cooked with clearly high grade ingredients too. No delays during service and the same friendly service in the restaurant. I would take issue with some of the reviews that say the food is expensive. We eat out quite a lot and the prices seemed reasonable to us, certainly the drink prices were normal and the wine list had lots of choice at all price points. The breakfasts were very good too and again no long waits for the cooked part to arrive. During our stay we went for a long walk in the woods, enjoyed the garden, and got through the nibbles in our little piggy larder drawer. We cannot think of anywhere thatwe havestayed that we have enjoyed more, and were reallly sad to leave.

Its a beautiful location, but the food was really poor quality. We ate in the Folly and paid £17 for a tiny bit of chicken cooked in sauce, very greasy, no green vegetable or potatoes on side. Bizarre given they have an incredible walled garden full of delicious greens...!! Felt like a real rip-off. Olive and pickles with about 3 tint slivers of pickles.....I wonder if the restaurant is better but judging by other reviews possibly not.

The staff were very attentive and looked after us but no more than that. the food was nice but not amazing, we had a lovely meal with family, nothing special stood out to us about this place or any staff member, hence 4* it would be so easy to put a little effort in to get better results.

A family evening but Never Again, This was a complete rip off . Poor food , poor service , but wow they know how to charge . Mega expensive , won’t be coming back . A lot better places about in East Devon than this place . Also watch out for the 12.5% service charge . Incredible
