On site dinner was fabulous. The venue is simple but clean and pleasant. The food was divine. A young man zoomed single-handedly among the tables to serve everyone. The menu offered 3 or 4 main courses, a beer & wine menu, plus apple pie for dessert. I ordered the lamb in a wine reduction sauce with broasted new potatoes. The sauce was exquisite and the lamb cooked perfectly. I would have served this meal with a steak knife, not because the lamb was tough, but because properly cooked lamb tends to act a bit rubbery under a standard dining knife. My room has a drop-dead view. It is large and well appointed. The bathroom is well-lit, spacious and sparkling clean. Free wifi, of course. I have yet to sleep in the comfy bed with the view, but I'm sure it will be equally satisfying. I wish I could stay here for a week.

We were hiking through the Faroe islands and wanted a place closer to some of our rural hikes. The Gjaardardur was perfect. Our room was simple but adequate. Breakfast was delicious although the staff can get a bit overwhelmed if everyone comes down at once. Wednesday night they have a special dinner with music and traditional dancing. It was very nice. It is rural so there's not a lot to do in Gjogv besides enjoy the glorious scenery. If you're going for quiet and nature it's perfect. If you're expecting big city refinement you'll probably be disappointed.

The main building is lovely to look at. Easy to check in and out, friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet and dinner is sometimes also buffet. Very good fish soup. We had a superior room which was spacious, comfortable and had very good views. All areas nicely furnished. There is a small lobby gift shop and the hotel also has a small café in the village with an outside seating area with good views of the village and sea. Close to the bird cliffs.
