The hotel is very close to the Waterfall of the Gods. Although the appearance is very simple, the interior decoration of the room is very comfortable, very clean, and the space is large. The hotel breakfast is also very good. Highly recommended! There is also a very cute kitten here, so cute

The landlord is very nice and very polite. The room was nice, clean and comfortable There is a kitchen but we didn’t use it. We ate nearby and it was delicious. Breakfast is included, which is great! A very recommended accommodation😎

Driving down a winding gravel road the outside appearance can be a little deceiving as I think it is a covered stable. But the rooms are top notch, roomy and well decorated. It made for a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was served in the farm house with a very pleasant staff. Typical Icelandic hotel breakfast with the addition of scrambled eggs. Very convenient to Godafoss .

Pros: - self check-in, which allows for late arrivals - location by Godafoss is excellent (can visit late or early before crowds) - breakfast staff very pleasant and offered custom coffee brews from machine - very clean and upkept room, chocolates in the coffee/tea station were a nice touch Cons: - smaller breakfast area and thus more limited offerings relative to larger properties - room is very simple from an amenities standpoint (i.e. fixtures are basic, small footprint with shower, no television, etc.) - one of our pricier stays relative to others during our Iceland visit; note the room will get charged prior to arrival Summary: Fljotsbakki is a very unique property in a remote area. It is a family run business with building and home conversion to a no-frills guestroom setup. Limited interaction with staff as well but they were pleasant during breakfast service. Note that even though they say it is a farm stay, there are few animals and it is set up like a typical accommodation setup. Main common area available other times if extra space needed. Fewer choices in the area, but knowing its simplicity it offers a decent overall value proposition. We very much enjoyed our stay at this farm hotel. Don't be put off by the remote location or unassuming appearance of building. Inside it we found a delightful room, nicely set up, with comfortable bed and good bathroom facilities. Everything worked well. The breakfast in the farmhouse was very good, and the host could not have been more helpful or congenial. If you can work it in to your ring road experience, I think you will be happy with this choice. We would definitely stay again.

The farm is just great. A bit away from the waterfall and nature is a dream. The owners/employees are funny and a little grumpy. The breakfast is good and solid, with a lot of care and quickly refilled. The breakfast room is a bit small, but it works somehow. The rooms are great, very good and nicely furnished, large, lots of facilities. There are enough parking spaces. In front of the old barn is a beautifully situated bench in the sun. You really can't complain about anything.

If you're looking for a place that has the comforts of a hotel but also the feel of real rural Iceland, this is the place for you. The hotel rooms are built in an annex off the property's sheep barn, and the sheep wander all over. (There's also a friendly cat who hangs around.) I was told they no longer offer the evening dinner, apparently having gotten overburdened by guests not being respectful enough to reserve ahead of time, but they still offer a terrific free breakfast with a wide selection every morning. The owners will occasionally pop in during breakfast to chat with the guests. While there's no TV in the rooms, everything else is top notch, including a modern ensuite bathroom. The two-headed shower was confusing to turn on and there was a microscopically tiny spot you had to hit in order to get hot water, but it was spotlessly clean, with plenty of linens. The location is also great for those looking to get out into the north island countryside. The farm is literally right across the Ring Road from the famous Godafoss waterfall (as legend has it, the place where Christianity was officially accepted in Iceland) and less than an hour away from both Akureyri and the Lake Myvatn area. I would absolutely stay again if in the area.

Very quietly located hotel with beautiful, spacious and well-maintained rooms. Also a very spacious bathroom. Friendly host. Basic but good breakfast. For dinner you have to go to a nearby village (15 minutes by car). Beautiful area close to the Godafoss waterfalls
