Gomersal Park Hotel & Spa

We attended the spa mid week and it was very quiet which was good as seating is limited. There is no seating around the pool and only 4 seats in the spa area. There is however 2 relaxation rooms and a cafe area. The relaxation room beds were not all that comfortable and you could hear all the cafe noise so not completely relaxing but ok. The facilities which included a pool (which shut at 4 as children’s lessons were on, would have been good to know) sauna steam room and a small outdoor jacuzzi type pool were all clean. The changing rooms were also clean although some of the lockers did not work but plenty available. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea was lovely. I didn’t see a water dispenser which would have been nice to help stay hydrated. The evening meal was fabulous and reasonably priced. The staff were great could not have asked for better service. The hotel room was hot and stuffy even though it was freezing outside. Our room had a small window which I kept open all night but that made it very noisy so I didn’t sleep well. The room especially the bathroom needs updating the floor looks like the bathroom at my Nan’s care home. It was however clean. We were provided with slippers and a robe to go to the spa in. In the morning room service came in before check out time whilst we were getting ready which was awkward 😐 All in all a good stay.

I was with a friend visiting other friends in the area so we and decided to have a few drinks and stay over. We arrived around 4.30pm and was greeted by a lady in reception who told us the door code and checked us in. The building had a nice fel and looked quaint on entrance. The bedroom itself was quite dated but as I'd only paid £38 I wasn't expecting too much but it was also dirty, the carpet had seen better days but had dust and 'bits' of whatever as if it hadn't been vacuumed, the bathroom floor was really dusty with mould in the shower and on the ceiling, bathroom was tiny with the door bashing the shower when you opened it to use the toilet but worst was the toilet itself was dirty. I could cope with the size of the bathroom and dated furniture but there is no excuse for lack of cleaning. The bed itself wasn't too bad, a little uncomfy but sheets clean, Wifi worked fine and the room was warm. The receptionist appeared to have left the building after we checked in and there didn't appear to be anyone in the hotel other than myself and my friend in another room. My friend went down for breakfast at 7am and shouted hello a few times but there was no one there so he didn't get the breakfast he had paid for. With some TLC and décor upgrade and a new cleaning regime it could be a really nice hotel. I got what I paid for I suppose.
