REPEAT I REPEAT THIS HOTEL IS NOT OPERATIONAL AND IS THE OWNER IS RENTING OUT ROOMS IN A SEMI-ABANDONED HOTEL!!!! This is a massive Fraudulent hotel and no longer exists as per the hotel website. The owner is renting out the odd room in a Derelict hotel and trying to pass it off as a hotel and then you get told its a self-catered room once booked. AVOID AVOID AVOID as you wont get refunded!!!!

My husband took me there for my birthday with friends. I can honestly say I was incredibly impressed. The newly refurbished hotel is elegant and very comfortable. I can honestly say out of all the hotels I have stayed at all over the world this one was the best. Fantastic spacious room with a sea view and well laid out. The room was quiet - no corridor noise , banging doors or shouting and the hotel was full with families, children , coupes and dogs amongst the guests. The Coast restaurant is superb. A lovely selection on the menu and all of us agreed that the food was absolutely delicious, fine dining at its best. Anthony and staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for one night. The room was nice and comfortable. The location is 10/10. But definitely feel they need a manger around to encourage the staff to be a little more enthusiastic and friendly. There is a lovely seating area with lots of cushions, however when it rained a little they had to move them under the parasols to keep dry. But then the weather dried up and people were sitting back outside and the staff just left them there for hours on a beautiful evening in a big heap giving a very messy feel about the place. Infact they were still like this at 9 am the next morning and glasses from the night before still out on tables. Just felt it really let the place down like the staff couldn't be bothered. We did eat a 3 course meal here and it was average.

I took my partner for a three-night stay at the Llawnroc Hotel in mid September 2024 for a 60th birthday surprise. She had no idea where we were going. Maria on reception was incredibly friendly and helpful and had already helped me prepare the ground with a 'Superior Room with Sea View' and a table booked in the restaurant for our first evening. From the moment we arrived, I knew it was going to be special. The hotel is beautiful, everything right down to the decor and furnishings was first class and the view from the room was indeed breathtaking (on our first night, from our bedroom window, we saw a harvest moon over a calm sea - pretty unforgettable). Darren the chef made us two lovely meals, a two-course with excellent and good value wine on the first night and a fine tapas selection on our last night. The hotel is in the village of Gorran Haven; it has a beautiful old harbour and a fine beach. It also has some quirky little shops and an excellent cafe. Nearby, the town of Mevagissey is an interesting old Cornish fishing town with lots to do, and we went (a little further away) to Fowey for another treat, the home of Daphne du Maurier of 'Rebecca' and 'The Birds' fame, both made into films by Alfred Hitchcock. All in all, I can highly recommend the Llawnroc Hotel and I'm sure, as many others will say, it will demand more than one visit. We certainly intend going back.

I stayed at LLawnroc for two nights whilst attending a family wedding nearby. From the booking of the hotel, to the communication from staff even on the day of arrival was customer focussed, timely and informative. Maria on reception was excellent, friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked through the door, even helping me recharge my mobile phone! The room was beautiful, with sea views. All the staff were great, the restaurant was beyond my expectations, the food was outstanding, the choice of wine with my early evening snack was spot ono and the breakfast choices were brilliant. I wish I could have stayed longer, will be returning next year for a much longer stay. Thank you for making my stay memorable and welcoming.

My wife and I recently spent 4 nights at the Llawnroc in celebration of a significant anniversary. We have stayed here 2 or 3 times before. The place is not what it once was: there is something of an air of neglect (one of the bars and the orangery are closed off and marked'No entry to guests'; the once pristine terrace is now **** infested in places; one of the glazing bars in our room's door to the balcony was hanging off) and a distinct lack of staff (reception manned only part-time, breakfast tables not cleared inside and outside tables not cleaned or set even in the loveliest weather). It all began to go wrong on our arrival after a 7 hour journey from the West Midlands. My wife had booked our room: we were to stay in a sea-view suite with balcony - the hotel's 'best room', she was told. Fortunately for us, she had obtained details of our room/booking in writing. The receptionist told us that we were booked into an 'ordinary' sea view room - not a suite - without a balcony. There then followed the bizarre events of the receptionist asking my wife to forward to her details of what the 'bookings team' had promised, as there were apparently 'no records' to back up our claim. My wife did so. The 'best room' was already occupied - booked out to someone else despite our earlier booking, so we were shown 2 alternative rooms. We chose a different room without balcony for our first night night with the suggestion that the room we had originally booked might be available for the remainder of our stay. The shower in this room did not work - scalding water and almost impossible to turn off. Instead of an easy 5 minute check-in, it took us a somewhat stressful half hour to complete this process. On asking to speak to the owner we were told an email address would be provided for us to write about our concerns. We did in fact get the promised/contracted room for the remainder of our stay and the owner unexpectedly telephoned us during our second day. He was unsympathetic and unhelpful, telling us that we had an amazingly good rate for our stay - and that we should not have been offered a 3 for 2 deal or a free dinner and breakfasts. The deal was offered to my wife by the Llawnroc 'bookings team' - my wife in fact contacted the Llawnroc after receiving a promotional email from the Hotel offering the 3 for 2 deal including breakfasts and a free dinner. The owner made us feel as if it was our fault that we had such a 'good deal'. He suggested that we had 'taken advantage' of the Hotel. This being the case, there was absolutely nothing he could do (besides 'a glass of wine') to address the inconvenience and stress of the check in and the first night spent in the wrong room. A couple of days into our stay we arrived back at the Hotel in order to change for dinner in Mevagissey. Our room's door wouldn't open. And the reception was initially unmanned. The receptionist was busy showing rooms to potential guests. So we waited around until she was free. Bear in m

Booked in for Sunday Lunch. We're new to Llawnroc and Coast Restaurant. We had bread board as starters which was a warm delicious way to start our meal. Mains were roast beef which was cooked to perfection with a perfect variety of seasonal veg, crispy roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding. All piping hot and beautifully served. Pudding was mixed berry mess ....shared between three of us because by this time we were fit to burst. Exceptional food and a lovely location. Facilities clean and modern. We'll definitely be returning.

We have been holidaying in Gorran Haven for many years and have watched the rise and fall of the Llawnroc hotel but the latest reincarnation of the restaurant., now called The Coast Restaurant is a culinary delight. The restaurant has a new more intimate location that still retains its lovely sea view. The front of house team were attentive and professional . The new local chef has created a wonderful menu sourced with very local ingredients , all dishes beautifully presented and delicious , something for everyone . An added bonus is dogs are very welcome ! We highly recommend you give it a try . Thank you to everyone for a lovely evening . We will definitely be back soon .

Just returned, had a fabulous weekend. The hotel and staff were first class. The food was truly excellent. This really is a dog friendly hotel, you’re not tucked away in some unloved part of the hotel, the dogs are made welcome from reception to the bedrooms and throughout.
