Second visit here. I ordered exactly the same dish as before, with the hope that it would be as good - it most certainly was! the steak pie and mash. More steak than you'd expect and bathed in the most scrumptious gravy. My 'friend' had the lasagne and said "its the best I've tasted". As a conisure of such a dish, his word is to be believed. Food arrived hot, well presented and a generous amount. At around £16 per meal, we thought that it was good value for money. I'm going to have the lasagne next time...or maybe the steak pie again. Difficult choice. Richard was a polite and friendly server and the chef...just...mmmm.

Just went in for a meal. 12oz Sirloin steaks and they were just perfect. Everything was cooked beautifully and hot on serving. Well worth the money. Lovely service and people. The pub was clean and tidy and very welcoming with a lovely open fire, just what we needed on a freezing day like today Thank you Guys. We WILL be back

Came on the off chance the last weekend for a Sunday roast for the end of our holiday (we are local) was not disappointed. Roast lamb is to die for as was the crumble and the chocolate brownie. Back again this weekend before heading to work for 3pm in another hostelry 😊. Cannot praise Matt the head chef and Debbie the waitress that never stops together with the rest of the team. It's very popular with the locals so advise to remember to book if you can. John & Dawn

Lovely place to stay to explore surrounding areas! I felt right at home soon as I arrived. Couldn't have asked for more in the room really and it was plenty big enough. Loved getting a relaxing bath after our days out. Staff were all fab and so friendly... Matt and Richard were great to chat to and the food there was delicious so we didn't feel the need to travel anywhere else to eat out all the time we were there which is a first for us! Pet friendly aswell which I'm sure will be a bonus for people who enjoy travelling with their 4 legged friends. Recommend going to Ravenglass for the steam train ride and Muncaster castle for special days out. Gorgeous place and didn't want to come home. We'll be back though and won't be looking for anywhere else to stay as this was perfect😊

The first room was like a sauna. The radiator was on and was unable to turn in down as the thermostat was broken, there was left over goods in the fridge from the previous people. The room was full of holes and cobwebs and mould in the bathroom. The property was advertised to have cleaning supplies and toiletries. There was washing up liquid soap and toilet roll and nothing else. The shower curtain falls and if there is a bit of steam in the bathroom. Sit on the toilet and the whole thing moves. Room 2 had no functioning toilet and was as dirty as room 1. The fridge made an horrendous noise on a night and found it really hard to drift off to sleep. It that didn't do it the big glowing green light will do. Both rooms had no running cold water in the bathrooms. Our booking was for 2 night and it was that bad we cancelled the second night and requested a refund. We have had a refund for the second night but no compensation for the first night.

Booked an evening meal for Good Friday. Arrived to find hardly anyone in the pub, they told us they had been extremely busy but now was a lull. Warmly welcomed and ordered our food, Memphis chicken, pie, chips and peas and sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake. The food was superb, very tasty and good portions. As we were eating the pub was starting to get busy again with the residents returning from their ventures. A very enjoyable meal with friendly staff.
