The building outside was decidedly shabby. The single room I started in was very small without anywhere whatsoever to put a suitcase after emptying it. This was the very first bed-and-breakfast I have stayed in in the last 10 years that did not provide any kind of body soap or shampoo. Everywhere else I have stayed has had a dispenser on the wall in the shower. The breakfast provided was very poor. It consisted of possibly one dozen boxes of cereal placed in the middle of the table, bread for toast and chocolate chip croissant with regular Croissants still all in the packages. There wasn’t protein of any kind until the day we were leaving where I noticed on the corner of the table in a small sealed package of salami and cheese. Upon leaving I was unable to pay my bill because the landlady did not know how to finish the transaction and getting a receipt for me to sign. My friend and I had just come from the Isle of Wight where a bed-and-breakfast was 10 pounds a night less and provided a full English breakfast. The landlady was very sweet which is why I actually gave three stars, however, I do think she needs to go and check out how it’s supposed to be done.

I stayed in July 2022 and was warmly met at reception by the owner. It is a relatively small but comfortable guest house, complete with bar (and pool table). I normally stay out of town in Gosport, but on this occasion, my team were having a meal in town and it was handy being able to walk back as it is in easy striking distance. It is incredibly laid back and I would recommend for both business people and social travellers. I note from another review that dogs are welcome, so I may well use this in the future for travelling.

I stayed here overnight for work, I thought the price was reasonable and reviews were positive. I was waiting at the door for a while as the bell didn't work. I was shown to my room and it was not bad at all. The bathroom was a servicable and plenty of room. The TV wasn't a bad size. I was advised there was parking at the back which there is access to off the main road. The host kindly showed me to my room and advised she was going out in the morning so the breakfast would be run by someone else. Unfortunately this is where the experience deteriorated. There was a selection of out of date bread, mould in some of the jams, butter out of date. It was pretty horrendous. I had booked in part as a B&B but was suprised at what was offered. There was a lady that got me a coffee. As I ate some slightly less out of date toast a collection of people came into the room and struck up conversation with each other - from the gist of things one was doing some work there and the other I think popped in for a coffee with the absent proprieter. It was all quite bizzare. The long and short is while the room was nice enough when working away I normally rely on this meal to get me through the day - I don't expect out of date and spoiled food.

The house is easily accessible from the motorway and main roads. it is near to the sea, port and local attractions. Heather is very friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was freshly decorated with new carpets. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The shower is over the bath and was hot and powerful enough. Continental breakfast was varied and plentiful. There is ample off-street parking. We would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others.

I had a one night stopover here and was made to feel very welcome by Heather. Lovely old building with high ceilings, clean and comfortable and good access to the local amenities. Not that I used it, but I loved the fact that there is an honesty bar. How many of the hotel chains would do something like that?? There is a car park around the back of the building which is not immediately obvious, but go to the traffic lights, turn left and the entrance is almost immediately on your left. Would I stay here again? Yes.
