The Star and Eagle in Goudhurst offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed drink. The staff are friendly, attentive, and helpful, ensuring a pleasant visit. Whilst we didn’t sample the food, the ambiance alone makes it a great spot to unwind. Highly recommended for a casual outing or a drink with friends!

We stayed here due to going to a friends party locally. Room was a nice size and comfortable. The bed also and so warm. Was able to turn radiator on and off temperature wise. We had a family room which had a shared bathroom but had it for ourselves as there was no one staying in the other one so was fine. The hotel has a lot of history and character (although felt I could get lost with all the doors and corridors!). Staff were very friendly and attentive. Really cosy warm feel in the bar area. We ordered food before we left which was lovely (not big plates as would be eating later) and was a little disappointed the size of mine (Brie) but was still nice. The breakfast was one of our favourites we have had. Full English. All freshly cooked and on a hot plate. Fresh coffee and orange juice. Really lovely place and will definitely return. Thank you!

We went to the restaurant here on Saturday 26th October, had 4 different waitresses, my partner ordered the sirloin steak which was so bland it was like it had been boiled no seasoning no taste whatsoever i had the soo called Guinness steak pie also no good the pastry was like cutting through rock on complaining they knocked £ 4.00 off the steak, we eat out quite a lot at nice restaurants and this is probably the worst meal and service we have encountered in the last 2 years, will most certainly not be going there again.

A lovely old building. Very old. Welcomed nicely enough. A real plus would have been offer of some help assistance luggage up the very small stairs ( which I realise you can rightly do nothing about). But not to be. The room had beautiful views. And the rooms ( bedroom and bathroom) were pleasant and clean enough. The bed really seemed more like a small double in size. It was uncomfortable. The atmosphere in the bar area was busy enough. The menu a bit hard to read as one item merged into another on a blackboard. Very crowded. Use two blackboards ! A lady at the bar we recognised from before and she was her usual lovely self. Our server though was a bit miserable though. My other half had fish and chips and he enjoyed his throughly. But not the low % beer. Too perfumed. My wine was warmish. And not chilled. My meal ( pork belly ) seemed okay but by the morning my body decided it wasn't a fan. We were really sorry that it was not such a nice stay this time as we had enjoyed it before. We do want to enjoy where we go ! Overall it was a bit pricey for the experience this time.

Just popped in for a drink passing through the village but menu, restaurant and rooms looked lovely for a future visit. Staff very helpful and polite! The food looked to everyone's taste and reasonably priced. We visited the church nextdoor too which was charming and well kept

We met friends here today and had a superb lunch. It was cosy with a log fire and food and staff were exceptional. We wouldn’t hesitate to visit again, would even consider an overnight stay. Goudhurst is such a pretty village.

Very old building. Some very low ceilings so be careful ! There are plenty of warnings to mind your head. Very clean. Lovely comfortable bed in a large room. Big bathroom. Pleasant and helpful staff. Very nice courtyard to sit outside in the sun. Meals were delicious. Good portion size, beautifully cooked. Slightly unusual menu but that did not detract at all. Would certainly go there again.

Very pleasant historic hotel set in a scenic Kent village. Bar and restaurant areas excellent with friendly service. Used by locals in the main so had a genuine local feel to the place. Rooms good with authentic feel to them.
