Our first safari and wow what a first! From the moment we were greeted at the gates to the time we had to leave we had the most fantastic time. We stayed in a gemsbok chalet overlooking the watering hole with our own plunge pool. It had everything you could ask for, huge bed, huge bath, lovely sitting area and it was all spotlessly clean. Cleaned each morning whilst we were out on the morning drive and then turned down each night on the evening drive, so nobody disturbing you when you do get to spend some time in your room or out on the decking. All of our meals were excellent and served exceptionally by staff, who were all so happy and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Our Ranger Clio was fantastic, we spent 7 drives in his company and he was a real character. He’s very knowledgeable and managed to find all of the animals we wanted to see. The only animal that managed to elude us was the leopard. We only stayed here for 3 nights and whilst we didn’t want to leave, it was enough time to experience everything that you need to. Would very highly recommend Pumba, it was the highlight of our 2.5 week trip.

Simply the best experience of my life. Everything about this place is magical. Stayed in the water lodge which was beautiful. Food was wonderful but most of all the staff were exceptional. The game drives were breath-taking. We saw much more than we could have wished for and at close range. Thank you for the most memorable stay! special thanks to our ranger Nzi, who was incredibly knowledgeable and great fun!

Spent a few days here part of a longer trip, worth the effort to travel north up to near port Elizabeth. Bit rushed on arrival but we’re not told there was a game drive in afternoon we arrived so be aware of that. Accommodation was fabulous, spot las and we had position overlooking a waterhole, bathroom and terrace with own plunge pool lovely for relaxing after early starts for drives. Very good indeed. Staff were friendly and full of smiles, only downside was the service at dinner was slow, if we wanted more wine and beer we had to ask which shouldn’t be the case on all inclusive (or any really!). Food decent for being in a 488 hectare reserve! Met few other people from England and had a good laugh with them on the drives and off - it’s not a staid atmosphere. We had most lovely ranger on our drives - Natty - funny chatty knows his stuff. We got to see white lions right up close, giraffe, elephants, rhinos, hippos and lots of zebra and Pumbas and many more so well worth it. We do recommend tipping as that matters on this type of trip.

We planned our entire trip to SA based on availability of this lodge. We expected a luxury experience and wonderful views. Be aware that if you book the bush lodge 3 of the rooms have no views at all (just bush - not even bird life!). Sadly, despite our advance requests, we found ourselves allocated one of these rooms. There were unable/unwilling to move us and it’s clear that priority is given to tour groups at the expense of independent travellers. In my opinion these rooms should be sold at a discount. Once you are here it seems that no ‘management’ are available to resolve issues.

From the moment we arrived it was 5 stars! The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful and the service was second to none. It really felt like nothing was too much. It also had a lovely laid back feel to the place with 5 star quality. We stayed for 3 nights and had 6 drives which was perfect. There was an abundance of food provided all throughout the day with plenty of options between meat, fish and veggie for dinner. The spa treatments were lovely although it’s worth noting the spa/gym is located at bush lodge and involves a 15 min transfer from water lodge in the jeep so we only went the once. The rooms were lovely and spacious with great views from the outside decking and pool. As for the game drives, they were something else. A special mention to Zouks who was our ranger. He was incredible and tailored each drive to what the guests wanted to see. We saw 4/5 of the big 5 but did see cheetahs as well as an array of other animals.
