Outstanding location, friendly helpful team of staff. Excellent quality food and drinks available. Clean and comfy bedding. Plenty of toilets and showers all clean. Good value in a beautiful location. 5 minute walk into Grinton village with pub serving food. Enjoyed cooked breakfast from yha team for both mornings of our stay. Planning to return, some fantastic walks on the doorstep so no need to use the car.

Excellent stay again. This time we stayed in a room indoors. Our friends had a pod then inside private room too. They hadn't stayed at a yha before and were amazed at the value for money. We all enjoyed our breakfasts both mornings The staff are the stars here. Yvette is so passionate about her job and this comes over. We're looking forward to returning probably be next year now. Lovely walks from the yha. We also got the little white bus from the bridge at Grinton into Richmond. Reeth is lovely too.

Stunning location, the building is very impressive and comfortable. Rooms are exactly what I expected, clean and bright with good quality beds and bedding. Kitchen very good, breakfast was nice. Most of all, the staff were just brilliant - warm and welcoming, helpful and attentive.

Loved it, all of it, from start to finish. Fab location, characterful building and - best of all - incredible staff. For around Forty quid, including evening meal and whopping breakfast ....... are you kidding me? Can't praise the staff highly enough - especially the lady who helped me at dinner, when my morning shave nick decided to hemorrhage all over the table and floor! and the real friendly guy who welcomed me at reception, checking in, and the lovely lady who sorted my breakfast, fit for a god! Kept my membership up for over twenty years but the first time I've actually stayed at a hostel in over fifteen years! It won't be my last!! Many, many, sincere thanks, hope to see you again.

We have stayed here several times over the last 10 years and have always enjoyed the experience. It is an old building and there may be some crumbling plaster and flaking paintwork in places, but it is more than made up for by the stunning views over the valley towards Reeth. Usually we self-cater, but this time we decided to treat ourselves to the evening meal and breakfast options and we were pleased with the standard and value of the meals provided.

We camped here for 2 nights, it’s a really good option for camping as you have access to the self catering facilities and the communal lounges etc. All the facilities were clean and well equipped (only slight niggle was there aren’t many shelves or places to put things down in the camping bathrooms). We ate in the restaurant one night which was tasty and good value. You can buy a good selection of drinks and snacks, plus a fire pit pack with wood, firefighters and marshmallows. Beautiful setting with fantastic views. All the staff are lovely too.
