We loved Barcelo Guatemala City hotel. We arrived around 7 pm at the airport, the shuttle driver was already waiting for us at the arrival area, the hotel had nice, clean van and it’s only 5 minutes from the airport. Fast check in, the hotel is big and clean, our room was on the 8th floor with 2 balconies. We had a king bed and they provided us with 2 bottled water and a tray of fruits. They have a pool but we didn’t have enough time to enjoy it. Breakfast was very nice, they have different guatemalan food choices for breakfast everyday like fajita, plantains, beans. They also have the usual eggs, bread, cheeses, yogurt, cold cuts and lots of fresh fruits. The servers were so kind. We also ate at the restaurants inside the hotel, Kyoto for japanese cuisine and Strikers for american food. We exchanged currency at the front desk everyday since we don’t know how much money we will spend for every tour. We made Barcelo our base hotel and took tours everyday. We did Hobbitenango, Antigua, Chichicastenango, Guatemala city tour and Lake Atitlan with San Juan la Laguna, which we all booked via Viator, we were lucky that most tours it was only the 2 of us. There is a supermarket Paiz just one block from the hotel where we bought drinks and snacks. The area is very safe and the hotel has 24/7 guards at the lobby and gate. We also booked the shuttle going back to the airport, our flight was at 6am and we took the first shuttle at 4 am, plenty of time to get to the airport, security and immigration. Thank you Barcelo for the great stay and we hope to come back soon!

Great service, Freddy and jaisel helped us marvelously! Food and service always great. We love to come and know that the menu is always going to be high-end and also the service is phenomenal. The hotel itself is fine, reasonably close to the airport; this is essential due to the horrific traffic during rush hours in this overcrowded city. But Do Not Eat here. Their restaurant is likely to become known as Worst Western Plus soon. With a limited menu, you'd think their cooks could handle the entrees, but that is not the case--they are incompetent and amateurish at best. We attempted to order pizzas but after a few minutes were told we'd have to wait 2 hours since the oven was broken. So we ordered some pasta entrees listed, and were served inaccurate items and very poorly prepared food. Stay here if you want, but eat at one of the nearby chain restaurants instead. The Best Western chain will truly be ashamed if they check out their restaurant on this property.

I called this place to make sure my family members would be able to check in with no issues. As a diamond member I’ve never had issues like this. I booked the reservation and added the person that would be checking in. Not thinking that I needed to put the number of people in the room because I purchased the type of room I needed that accommodated 3 guest. My mother in law and brothers in law were picking up my daughters from the airport the following morning so I had my in laws check in. When they got there to check in the front desk wanted to charge us 35 per person. I specifically paid 15k points that accommodated 4 and it was only 3 guest. It didn’t matter whether it was 2 or 3 on the reservation the points were the same. But there they wanted to charge 35 per person. Then as diamonds we normally get something like breakfast. Well the front desk made sure they told my 76 year old mother in law, no breakfast is allowed for them. I am extremely upset with how they were treated. I don’t care if we purchased the breakfast the fact that they immediately said to them and no breakfast for you all made it seem Like they were allowed to dine. Never using this place ever again.

I only stayed at the hotel briefly due to a late flight arrival and an early flight the next day. However, the room was decent and it was close to the airport which was all that mattered. When I checked out in the early hours of the morning there was no staff to check me out so I just gave the key card to the security.

Located in the 10th district of Guatemala City's safest area, the hotel room is a suite with a restaurant bar, gym, and facilities equivalent to the domestic four-five-star hotel. My room had 3 double beds with a sofa and a huge TV. The view was straight into the Courtyard Marriott across the street. However it was very comfortable. There are dozens of restaurants within walking distance. the Oakland mall and Dollar City are about 15 mins walk from the hotel.

Cleaning begins when guests check in. Ask guests to wait at the front desk for the normal time when checking in. The first room I was given was outside the window in a narrow inner courtyard with poor air circulation and sight lines... Needless to say, I went to the front desk to change rooms. The other female leader at the front desk was more enthusiastic and more enthusiastic than the first female staff member. Much better, but still waiting for the room to be ready before check-in. My check-in time was nearly 8pm. I want to ask: Does a five-star hotel not clean the room in the afternoon? Do you have to wait until guests arrive to clean?
