The most perfect place for a relaxing holiday. The food was first class and the staff made our experience even more special. The pool is a welcome addition for a cool dip and the beach is just a short walk away. We cannot wait to return to Footsteps Eco lodge.

A fabulous stay! I felt welcomed from my arrival into Banjul airport and safe at all times. Sunbird house was great, the food tasty and staff attentive. The bird life is spectacular and the friendly atmosphere made for a very relaxing holiday.

Returned this year after having last visited 18 years ago. Pleased to say that apart from some minor additions it retains it's original laid-back charm and peacefulness - helped by having long-term dedicated staff. Excellent food, clean and comfortable accommodation, and surrounded by trees and myriad species of tropical birds. Gentle half hour walk to almost deserted tropical beach. Heaven. If you want a typical hotel and activities go somewhere else, but if you're after an authentic African experience that will do your soul good then look no further!

Linda and David have creates an amazing place and experience at their eco lodge. The staff are so friendly, caring and helpful and the food cooked fresh by their amazing chef was amazing every single day. There's lots to experience or just chilling, beautiful white sandy beach nearby, fantastic value for money and 100% sustainable

We have stayed at Footsteps 5 times, twice this year, and it won't be out last, we are already planning our next visit. Footsteps is one of the most relaxing, friendly places we have ever visited. There is nothing too much trouble for David, the owner, and his staff. The roundhouses are cool and comfortable and you soon get used to the composting toilets. The food is always prepared fresh by the chef for breakfast lunch and dinner and he will always accommodate special requests. Give footsteps a go, you won't be disappointed.

I never go back to places more than once…. And yet here I was for my 3rd visit. Staying at Footsteps is just sublime - I said it all in my last review in 2023 so I’ll keep it short. If you are thinking of going, just do it - you’ll love it. The huts are great, and there’s a great chilled vibe to the place. I’m a solo traveller in my 60s and felt very safe wandering around the area. If you are travelling on further, David who runs the place, is on hand to help you - he’s great and runs the lodge with great kindness.

An amazing and authentic experience of The Gambia. The location is spectacular and surrounded by nature at it's best. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and there was no worries with mosquitoes, as we had mosquito nets if you wanted to use them. The food and service of the kitchen staff was exceptionally good. All home-cooked food and it felt like better treatment than a health farm. I am sure everyone would benefit from a week of eating the food cooked at Footsteps, with fish, chicken and vegetarian options each day. No processed food - absolutely wonderful for a Yoga retreat to have such healthy cooking. The gardens also supported the right atmosphere for a Health-focussed holiday, with so many different birds to listen to and watch. The location is stunning and can't recommend it highly enough.

Footsteps Eco lodge is inviting right from the beginning.The staff,food and eco facilities are all excellent.Trips ,nature walks and bird watching were fab.Perfect location to relax and for us to meditate and do yoga .The Lodge staff and owners could not do enough for us.Cant wait to go back. Just back from a wonderful yoga retreat at this eco lodge. The accommodation is set in beautiful grounds and gardens, around 25 minutes walk from a deserted beach. David supports local artisans who work on site and the 2 masseurs were amazing . The local staff were so friendly and can’t do enough for you and the food was exceptional, especially the final nights BBQ. The accommodation is comfortable and the lodge offers a good selection of trips . Gambia exceeded my expectations
