Hakuba Hotels with Wi-Fi

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. The hotel and rooms are clean and comfortable. The lack of vegetarian / vegan food options was disappointing considering this is a Marriott Hotel. The resteraunt may not be theirs, but still expected better. The staff were very helpful, although the hotel shuttle to drop us to the station was only available for a 30 minute timeslot in the morning. Strange, but not a problem. Location is good, still has a feel that it could be a lot better by just making small improvements. Its the details that matter, at least that is why we booked Marriott. Still, we would stay here again (and maybe bring our own food).

Despite a communication problem with hotel staff on shuttle pickup upon arrival at the bus station, we do recommend this hotel. We booked a special room, a concept room “Pike Nike” which is really amazing for the families with kids. The room resembles camping and picnic atmosphere. it has the picnic chairs. The furniture is still new and clean. If you consider booking this room type for enjoying with kids, you may contact the hotel directly to request so. We booked the room directly with the hotel. The onsen was great and the breakfast was excellent. We took the bus to Hakuba Happo but no one picked us upon arrival and we waited for almost an hour but the hotel staff helped solve the problem eagerly and kindly. Despite that shuttle problem upon arrival, we had no other problem at all with the shuttles, especially to Gondola. The hotel has clear and fixed schedules and it was not confusing. Our son pf 5 years old loved this room and the hotel so much that he cried because he did not want to leave the hotel. Thank you the relevant staff that helped us.

What an awesome experience! The hotel offered exemplary service before we even arrived. Due to special travel arrangements, we arrived late and the staff quick to arrange an in-room bento dinner for us before our arrival. When we got there, we were immediately blown away by the gorgeousness of the hotel. Despite its age, everything was very clean and polished. I can see that great care had been taken to upkeep the hotel and it’s premises, which are extraordinarily beautiful. We couldn’t resist taking pictures even after check-out, and it took us an hour to finally reluctantly leave. Words cannot actually do the place justice, you must visit there yourself. We were very impressed with how delicious the food was, and the attention to detail, including the placement of the food, the coordination of food color. My mouth is still watering as I recall how delicious it was. I had 10 helpings of their prime rib one day. Besides, I had a dietary restriction and the staff were really careful with that, to the extent of reminding me what dishes not to eat everyday at their breakfast and dinner buffet. In addition to excellent food and service, the hotel went out of its way to be very eco-friendly. For every day that we did not need our room to be tidied, we earned points, which can be traded in for ice cream or other goodies. Finally, the staff spoke perfect English. This is rare indeed, and it made everything so much easier and so much more enjoyable. Thanks for the experience!

Nagano was always a day trip, but this time I received a preferential ticket and decided to stay. I was worried about the reaction of my favorite Japanese food master, but the breakfast and dinner and wine were delicious, and the family was very satisfied. In the room of the preferential ticket, I was a little narrow to stay with three families, but I was able to upgrade to a large room and spend comfortably. Room service was also polite. It was an unstable weather when the typhoon approached, but it became a good memory.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sierra Resort, Hakuba when we visited in February. The hotel itself is beautiful, well maintained and offers a lot to its visitors. The hotel is set outside of the main town in it's own little secluded area. This can be a plus and minus - Positive because the resort is so beautiful and away from the hustle and bustle, negative as it can at times be difficult to access transport to and from town (restaurants, bars, ski fields, etc). The hotel offers a shuttle bus in the evenings to take you into town, although you need to book in there and back, which can be restrictive of your time at dinner, etc as you have to decide on a return time. The shuttle bus doesn't stop near all restaurants, so you could be walking in the dark/cold to your reservation and then waiting in the cold for the return bus. Keep this in mind - a lot of the time we found it more convenient to order a taxi, although these can be hard to come by and expensive! The Ski shuttle bus picks up/drops off at the hotel each day. Buses are busy and there are no racks for ski/board gear - you need to carry everything onto the bus with you, which can be very squishy as the buses get quite full. We found Tsugaike to be the closest and most convenient ski field to the hotel. The staff at the hotel were always very friendly and helpful. Language barriers existed, although staff would always ensure they had assisted you by the end of the conversation, you just have to allow a little more time in your schedule to organise and make your plans. This also allowed us time to learn some simple Japanese which assisted us when communicating with the staff. Sierra Hotel offers complimentary food at different times throughout the day, served in the main lobby area - curries, rice, soup, etc. This is so convenient when you get back from the ski fields and just want a small bite to eat before dinner. Hotel also offers complimentary wine, tea and ice creams. Breakfast - great selection of Japanese and Western food. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast each morning. There were always new things to try each day - eg: different soups (pumpkin, corn), also beautiful views outside. Dinner - we had dinner at the hotel one night from the A La Carte menu. Also thoroughly enjoyed our meals (Pasta, calamari, soup, fries, etc). Rooms were big, very comfortable and warm with special heating. Beautiful views of the snow and areas around the hotel. Our favourite part of the resort was the beautiful public and private onsens made up of pure mineral water. The private onsens need to be booked in ahead of time which the hotel allows each morning - you will need to be quick to make a booking. We would definitely recommend Hotel Sierra Resort and would stay here again. Thank you to the staff for an enjoyable stay! :)

The breakfast buffet is delicious, there are two public hot springs, one private bath, private bath must be reserved in advance, reservation is half price in the morning, it is very cheap, only a few hundred yen, there are shuttle buses to jr or bus stations, Daily scheduled pickup and drop off at the ski resort

A beautiful accommodation to be recommended for everyone who loves visiting Japan. It got plenty of pretty things to offer especially having an exciting and exhilarating sports activities at the snow area. Cool fragrance all over the setting was so good and very welcoming. Clean and commendable services from professional and very helpful employees. They made sure everything was provided accordingly. The rooms were awesome. We had a comfortable and peaceful sleep as the surrounding was so quiet at night yet very entertaining and barely relaxing at daytime. Toothsome breakfast made our overall stay fabulous. Highly recommended for all.

My first visit to Hakuba - and choosing Yamano Hotel was pure luck. Many incredible experiences which I will try laying them out : 1) Keita and Monica - excellent hosts (made it felt very much a family hotel) 2) Monica arranged Woody Rentals : to come pick us, get fitted out with our snowboard gear - and Woody will arrange to send it back to the Dryer Room . The shop was in Happo area - so after getting fitting out , we went for our dinner and strolled back to the hotel . The gear appear in the dryer room that night. Talked about good service and shout out to the guys at Woody Rental 3) my kids had late night hunger pangs - and they opened the kitchen though the kitchen has arrays closed . Had the curry rice - which they gobbled up. My son had another curry rice serving the next day 4) my wife hurt her back and went back to the hotel first, and Monica helped to pick up her Insurnace cards in the room - really thankful. I was at the slopes as the kids were in ski school . 5) the evergreen international ski pick up and drop off is just at the hotel entrance - so bringing the kids and coming back from their ski school was an ease 6) we walked to both happo and echoland - through the small roads - about 15-20 mins with young kids pace - so overall not too bad 7) hot onsen tub and cold tub with sauna - amazing . 8) free massage chairs whilst waiting for your Laundry is an added plus! 9) rooms were comfy , clean, well furnished . Read some comments that it was aged but I did not think so. It was great. The size was good as well. Toilets are Japanese sized , but in these resorts, most time was spent in the Ibsen and bath area. 10) great great hospitality - pick up and drop off by Keita . Thanks a lot and helping me with the baggage as it was quite a handful for myself only 11) the greatest host was Keita & Monica’s son - Gakuto , 7 year old bright boy - he made toys for my kids to play, played Uno, and video games - and my kids really had a great time with him. Hope we get to see him soon. He was always somewhere in the hotel - popping in and out and just being a great presence . The overall feel is the hotel has so much history , in a family oriented setup which was warm , cosy , and always inviting - made you feel home despite my only 4 nights there . I stayed on a tour of a travel agency that is good at skiing called JamJam Tour. I think the hotel is mainly open to skiing and boarding customers in winter. In the summer, Trapix and club tourism groups are also accepted. This time, I stayed at the same inn with a tour of two large buses for both nights, but I didn't meet anyone in the hot springs or in the lobby, and I was only with them when I was eating. It was good that the hot springs were reserved and always put in. It's small, but there is an open-air bath, but there is no sauna. The room was a twin room, but there is a sofa in the back and it is large enough. Maybe in winter, the sofa can be made into a sofa bed and can be triple. I could see Kashima spear from the room, but there are many trees 々 around, so there is no good view nearby. Also, it is near the jumping platform in the back of the Hakuba villa, so you can't go to the convenience store by walking. I didn't expect a meal because it was a cheap tour, but it was delicious enough. The restaurant was served by foreign staff, but it was a pleasant response.

We loved Gakuta. The staff have been wonderful. Guin has answered so many emails for us pre trip. Using Whats App is the best way to communicate with them during your stay. They have booked restaurants and ordered taxis’s for us. It’s been so easy. Tips. Even villas look over the forest. Odd villas look over a snow filled car park. Spicy Wadano is a 5 min walk for rentals and they drop and pick up gear to Gakuto The free shuttle bus stops is the car park next door in both directions so it’s easy to get to the slopes. Bus 1 to Sakka and Bus 2 to Happo Gondola. So easy and no walking with gear. They run every 30 min. Compared to our last visit most places (including supermarkets) now use cards instead of cash only Eat at Hybrid - awesome service and amazing food. I mean amazing and fresh local produce. Highly recommend The Pub is a 5 min walk and easy for a casual dinner and the hotel attached Moninoki has an all you can eat buffet (nice) as well as a beautiful outdoor onsen (walk ins only) and 1,000 Yen and highly recommend. The villas are very clean and basic kitchen with some tea and coffee provided. (If you want to cook bring some salt and pepper) Gakuto will also happily recommend restaurants and I suggest you book as they fill up very quickly. Would definitely stay here again and it’s great value. Happy skiing
