The hotel is perfect located on the top of Halden, and right next to Fredriksten festning with beautiful views over the city and the ocean. We chose the Superior double room, clean and spacious. No view over the city on the first floor. Coffee machine in the room, but no water boiler for tea. Nice breakfast, local food and much of it homemade. I love their food filosofy (don't grab more than you eat, don't throw away food). A nice walk down to the city for dinner or drinks, a steep return but a nice walk. Lovely staff, but only one at work in front the weekend we visited. We brought our dog, that was not a problem.

A equipe é simpática, apesar de extremamente reduzida. A verdade é que o hotel parece meio abandonado à própria sorte. Parece uma escola ou hospital, não o Hotel histórico que proclama. Ficamos um pouco decepcionadas. O hotel é de difícil acesso e demoramos muito para encontrá-lo. Quando finalmente o encontramos, foi graças às placas na área da Fortaleza. O mesmo se pode dizer da recepção, que só encontramos na terceira tentativa. O quarto também não correspondeu às expectativas. Estes quartos deveriam ter uma vista garantida do Iddefjord ou da Fortaleza, enquanto o nosso quarto tinha vista para o estacionamento. O café da manhã é MUITO SIMPLES. Não entendemos como este HOTEL poderia ser chamado de histórico, além de alguns cartazes e nomes de quartos, havia pouca história.
