Couldn't check in until 3pm even though the room was ready. Huge queue at 3pm, one member of staff flapping, making excuses of being short staffed, but only one computer anyway so not sure what another member of staff could have done. Self check in kiosk wasn't working Had to pay £12 on arrival - card machine wasn't working and was asked for ID to pay cash.... For £12!! He proceeded to scrutinise the ID back and forth, much to the amusement of other guest in the queue who were.actually laughing - my passport doesn't get checked with that much scrutiny at passport control, it was ridiculous..all the while stating 'company policy's. Your policies and staff are moronic. Never staying again . Completely wasted my time and missed the start of our film we had planned. Also told we didn't have to book breakfast, could just turn up, which we did nice and early, first ones there and was greeted with a sullen face because we hadn't booked and he had 150 people to serve that morning - I can't beat people whinging about their workload but still allowing you in - you either can't fit us in, or take our orders with the grace a server should give.

Lovely central location, and a great stay. Massive thank you to our lovely host Oliver, made us feel so welcome and was so funny we would be tempted to stay again just to be able to have a gossip with him. He is a credit to premier inn as a whole and should be given a raise Thank you Olly and thank you Mr Premier Inn Love Happy FIFI

We have stayed in this hotel many times previously. It now feels very tired. In our room the paintwork was marked and chipped, the toilet seat was loose, there was mould in the bathroom, there were no cups/mugs in the room and there was only one towel. There is now an extra charge for a room with a view. Do not fall into this trap. The view is of Halifax Town Hall. This view is, in and of itself, quite pleasant. Unfortunately, the view also includes a very busy road junction with major road works, a derelict and abandoned cinema/bingo hall and the Acapulco night club housed in a brutalist 60’s building. If you like urban decay by all means pay extra.

Perfect location for the Victoria theatre that we were attending. Great shopping area. Food in the Beefeater was fabulous... One of the best steaks we've both had in a long time. Would definitely return to this hotel. Would highly recommend.

Staying overnight with my wife for a charity event, the Premier Inn was first choice for convenience of location and price. Whilst the hotel itself was ok, room comfortable and clean, the many guests attending the same event queued for a long time to book in. E- check in was unavailable and card machines were unavailable (possibly due to a national issue with Barclays over the weekend). Guests who’d not paid in advance were asked to pay by cash, which given people don’t carry that much cash these days, presented a problem. The young guy on check -in was very apologetic and left totally unsupported to resolve the situation by senior management. This, through no fault of his, was problematic, and left many people unable to book the restaurant for breakfast and left everyone very frustrated. After a successful night in Halifax, the much promised “all you can eat breakfast” beckoned. Unfortunately, the IT issues from the day before meant many of the guests from the charity event, who had been unable to book a table, couldn’t be accommodated for breakfast and had to go elsewhere. Those of us who got in were faced with significant understaffing, 1x4 slice toaster (connected by extension lead to a remote power point) to cater for 100+ guests and food that wasn’t very warm when served. Continental breakfast choices were minimal so overall the breakfast was a major disappointment, not least as many people judge a hotel by the breakfast. On the other side, convenient parking opposite at £12 for 24hrs, excellent value bar prices, and a heads up to the stressed guy on reception, plus good WiFi so ordering an Uber was easy, plus a very central location, we’re all plusses. Stayed at the same hotel after it opened circa a decade ago. This visit wasn’t as good. A review on staffing levels at breakfast and a better plan B when electronic systems go down, could all be considered a requirement for effective customer service. Would I use Premier Inn again - yes. Would I go to Halifax central again - not sure.

It might not stand out .... but it is exactly what you would expect a Premier Inn to be. Plus rooms are not available here, but the standard rooms are more than adequate for a stopover. The hotel is centrally located and is right next door to a large car park. Breakfast is served to order rather than buffet, but it's always a good choice (and unlimited). Breakfast could have been a bit warmer though ... most items were quite tepid. My other gripe is that the Beefeater next door closes at 10.00pm. Too early if, like us, you've been out to the theatre and would like a nightcap

Excellent location, a stones throw away from train station too. Car park next door (bookable online, extra charge required, very easy to do though). Pleasant, helpful staff. Great size room, the bed was very comfy. I will be returning to this hotel for future stays.
