Taru Villas Mawella - Tangalle

Like the sister hotel in Galle, this is a truly fantastic hotel that mixed calm, serene, manicured and charming with luxury. Not in the western pretentious high spec way, but in a delightfully authentic Sri Lankan way. Right on the beach, but with private areas, generous lawns and beautiful spacious rooms. Only 7/8 rooms which make it deathly quiet. But a short walk up and down the beach we found busier places to eat and drink. The beach is empty but for a few school kids and the fishing boats and the odd tourist. Heaven

Nice and calm location with sea front property. Great location and rooms are well maintained. Stayed at Mawella suite with a plunge pool.Nice and spacious room.Ideal for a family. Management and staff were friendly and supportive. Food is good and can be improved with variety. This property has access to nice and clean Mawella beach. Looking forward to trying their other properties in the future. Would like to thank all the staff who made us our stay a memorable one.

We loved our stay at this villa. So personalized and private. The setting is outstanding and the villa is gorgeous. Our room opened up to a stunning view of the sea as well as the common area. Clean and high quality furnishings. Comfortable sitting area in the common area and pool loungers and umbrellas at the beach. What really stood out was the service and the food. Service was discrete and always available. Staff are personable and professional. The breakfast, lunches and dinners were outstanding and cooked with fresh ingredients. Made to order and served on our private patio or in the beautifully designed restaurant overlooking the pool and sea. On our last night the staff hosted a BBQ on the sand which was so romantic and delicious. Highly recommended. 5/5 stars!

Our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka has been wonderful. We have stayed in some lovely accommodation - Taru Villas has been the best. Access is down a track off the main coastal road and then through a quaint doorway. You are then in delightful grounds with grassed areas, pools and a comfortable lounge. We stayed in the stunning spacious master bedroom, complete with plunge pool. At breakfast and in the evenings we enjoyed our meals on our private large veranda There were superb views down to the Indian Ocean, we could hear the waves crashing 24 hours a day. Service was top notch at all times, shout out to Donald who could not have been more helpful or caring. The amenities were all we needed, but Wi-Fi was not always high speed. The food was well prepared,beautifully served, fresh and hot. We have never had more tasty tropical fruit at the perfect ripeness.Any dietary requirements are catered for. The ocean is very close, but do beware of the undertow.

The Taru Villas is an amazing property, everything is immaculate and it sits right on the most beautiful beach . Gihan and the team cannot do enough to help you and make your stay memorable. While being secluded and peaceful it is only a short tuk tuk ride from Hiriketiya Beach.

I and my family spent five nights at Taru Villas, the first two at the Pool House and the remaining three nights at Kurumba House where were upgraded thanks to the kindness of the manager Gihan. Gihan was very attentive, supportive, always professional. Nothing was impossible for him! The stay at the villas exceeded our expectations. Everything was great. The properties were spotless and super comfortable. The food was amazing. We were being looked after by Ruwan, his service was amazing. He was always there and available but at the same time his presence was very discreet. We would love to come back to the Villas. Thank you all for making our holiday truly special!
