The location is fantastic, providing easy access to Rutland's attractions. Guests appreciated the delicious breakfast with a wide selection of hot and cold options. Peaceful village setting adds to the charm.

A lovely pub with roaring fires and great food. The chips particularly were excellent. Friendly staff. A small selection of board games and a children’s menu. The marmite butter that came with the bread was yummy! Good selection of puddings too.

It has a lovely decor but the food was mixed, especially for the price. The soup for example was quite watery and tasteless. The aubergine satay likewise disappointing. Service was functional but hardly charming. As visitors to the area I'm not sure I'd recommend.

We stayed for one night and had an evening meal and bed and breakfast. It was a quiet night at the end of October to celebrate my birthday. Not my fault when I was born!! Our room (Number 3) was a reasonable size. well maintained, with good bathroom and a balcony directly overlooking , in the middle distance, Rutland Water. The food was good and all the staff were very friendly, and approachable. Excellent stay. The ambiance was quiet but then it would be given the month and day !! Will definitely go again.

We stayed here for two nights. Pluses are: beautiful location, atmospheric building, friendly and helpful staff, great food. Minuses are: seemingly no sound insulation at all (from our room we could hear everything from the dining room, everything from the corridor, and a lot from the neighbouring rooms), damp (clean) towels, a heated towel rail which never seemed to be on. Whether it’s value for money is debatable but it has a lot to offer and enjoy.

We had lunch here in early January. The food was excellent. However the service was poor and the table position even worse. They are clearly trying to squeeze too many covers in, though they have quite a lot of space. To be specific the table was against a big pillar blocking any view from the window. There was a narrow thoroughfare by the table, sufficient to let one member of staff pass. All in all there were about 100 staff movements past the table. There is a good clear view of the gents toilet some 5m away. My wife does so wish men would finish doing up their flies before they open the door. There were no towels or hand drying facilities in the ladies when we arrived. Despite being so close to passing staff it took 15 minutes for the desert plate to be cleard. In that time we gave up on the idea of ordering tea/coffee, and instead asked for the bill, which came a few minutes later. 20 mins later someone came with the card machine. We did not add service and the member of staffed didn't seem surprised. Let me reiterate, the food was very good, with a good choice on the menu, good flavours and good presentation but one doesn't go just for the food. If you do go, go when it is likely to be quiet as you will probably get a better experience.

Clean and good value for money. Service a little quirky but this did not detract from the experience. Food very nice! Good mix of cosy pub and contemporary restaurant. Would definitely recommend/book again

This is a beautiful B&B and has been recently refurbished so don't be put off by the old images on TripAdvisor. Beautiful views from our balcony in room 3 and lovely decor. Staff were super attentive and helpful. Would definitely return.

We were at a wedding in Oakham and booked a room for one night. We were given Room 10, which overlooked the bins and side car park with a view of the village!!! Not the nicest view. The room was incredibly hot and it wasn’t that hot outside. The beds were ok. The room was nothing special, adequate. It was all a bit drab to be honest. Not at all boutique like. Not that big and there was also a “food” smell in the air as well, but we did arrive on a busy Saturday afternoon. There was a nasty step down in the bathroom; we were ok with it, but you had to be careful. My husband couldn’t get a taxi into Oakham and the Staff were very helpful and drove him into Oakham, which was much appreciated; thank you. The Staff were very polite and helpful at all times. Breakfast was lovely. All in all, adequate, but I was expecting a bit more than “adequate” really.
