It may be one of the Haven Ports, but there's a lot more to Harwich than boats and water, as a stay at Premier Inn Hotel Harwich will tell you. We're great as a stopover if you're catching the ferry, but there's also plenty to do here even if you're not sailing away. Spend your morning wandering the picturesque streets of Harwich, stumbling across some delightful buildings that date back centuries. Or catch a train to Colchester, Britain's oldest town, to see the castle or visit the world-famous zoo. The Edwardian seaside town Felixstowe is nearby too. Then come back to the hotel for some tasty food at our Brewers Fayre restaurant and a lovely, comfy bed.Show More

Booked for a night prior to an early ferry crossing the next morning. Arrived after an 8 hour drive to be greeted by Amanda and colleague on reception who were smiling, courteous and informative. Parked right outside which was great as we had a car full to the rafters. Room was large, lovely big towels, tea and coffee etc. We headed to the Mayflower for a drink with plans to then shower and come back down for food. Drinks were the same price as our local pub so no rip off prices. We spotted the £5 meal deal so decided to eat as we had not eaten all day and ordered a starter of mushrooms each and a main course. The mushrooms were lovely and a large helping, fish and chips were great as was the chicken burger. Total £16 for a starter and main course each, absolute bargain. We took 2 wine glasses to the room for a tipple before our early night. Bar staff were all lovely. We can’t comment on breakfast as we left at 6.30am. The only reason we gave 4 stars was that it’s a shame breakfast or even continental isn’t offered earlier as I’m sure a lot of people staying are also catching the early ferry, plus the receptionist in the morning when we asked if the port had any facilities just looked at us and said he didn’t have a clue. Surely if you live in Harwich and work near the port you should educate yourself on the local facilities so when paying customers ask you a simple question you can actually reply with an informative answer rather than a Neanderthal grunt!

Have long relied on this for a clean and pleasant sleep in the area. I like the parking and proper opening windows, but the cost-cutting is making it increasingly grim. Several times we’ve turned up and been given only one bath towel in a room booked for two, had to ask for the bare minimum of a bath towel and hand towel per person. The latest meanness involves withdrawing water glasses so you only get one tea mug each, and have to ask ‘extra’ if you have the temerity to want a vessel to put overnight water in. They’re charging the price of a hotel room, so they really need to start supplying the bare minimum or new competition in the area will finish them off.

We have a night away each month and as this is special we wanted somewhere that wasn’t too posh but was comfortable and well maintained. The Premierinn at Harwich was just perfect for that. Quiet and a good restaurant on site with friendly professional staff who clearly cared about our stay.

As always a great place to stay. A warm greeting from Estelle on reception and the following morning Reece in the restaurant when we went down to breakfast. I believe his colleague was Lucy who was equally good and professional. The hotel is always immaculate and friendly

Very good value, comfortable bed, good shower. Amanda on reception was very helpful and went as far as to lend me her personal USB Phone cable from her car to charge my phone. Well located for port and station. The breakfast sustained me all day.
