Hotel de Groene Hendrickx

Great hotel in the heart of Hasselt. Everything is easily accessible on foot. We had chosen this hotel to visit Winterland. Slept wonderfully. The breakfast was excellent. The architecture was especially beautiful, a hotel in an old brewery, old and new combined.

Beautiful property, friendly staff and good breakfast. But terribly noisy until 1am with café guests, throwing and stomping on stairs. And again at 5:00 am from trucks. Stuffy room with no window to open. Not to be repeated.

If you want to sit in the pub next door until closing time, this hotel is for you! If not, it will be impossible to sleep until 2 am. Furthermore, a great hotel with a beautiful courtyard and nice brasserie.

Nice hotel, friendly staff and very tasty and extensive breakfast. However, a number of things can be improved. When booking a cycling package, safe storage for bicycles cannot be guaranteed. This is only possible if a specific bedroom is not in use. An alternative is the covered parking where the car can be parked for €14/day if the parking lot is not closed due to a move/work. Upon arrival, our 4 (electric) bicycles could be stored in a room that can be reached via a few stairs down and a few stairs up again. Not easy with heavy bicycles and certainly not for older or less mobile people. At the end of our weekend we received a tip from a friendly lady that we could also cycle through the restaurant without stairs. The cycling package also includes a welcome drink and a delicious 3-course dinner. The rooms are clean and nice but warm and not all have air conditioning. Our room without air conditioning had a fan but no windows that could be opened for some fresh air. Our friends' room had air conditioning but it did not work and in another room it only blew ice cold air. They each got a different room. The beds in these rooms are very low to the ground and are therefore not really suitable for an older or less mobile clientele. The staff, who have to manage both the hotel reception and the restaurant service, try to keep everything running smoothly and always with a smile. A few investments by the managers (also in additional staff) would not be an unnecessary luxury.

We requested and received a quiet room away from the street, on the third floor. The room was small, but with every comfort. A double bed with good pillows, an open bathroom with shower, sufficient storage space and a desk with two chairs. The icing on the cake was the delicious extensive breakfast with something for everyone. There was a wide choice of savory and sweet fillings, sandwiches and pastries, various egg preparations, fruit, cold vegetables... The cold drinks buffet was also very varied, with different fruit juices, cold milk, chocolate milk and soya-based drinks. Lactose and gluten-free breakfasts. ? Which can! Our stay was pleasant and worth repeating.
