Third time I’ve used this Premier Inn as I find it an ideal base for trips into London. I usually stay here then travel to Stanmore Tube Station for travel into central London. This avoids the higher accommodation costs in the capital plus the hassle, and charges of driving in the capital. Why have I given the review 3 out of 5. Well, read on. 1. The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. The public areas especially the bar and dining area are looking tired. I noticed half of the conservatory/ dining area is closed off to the public. What are they hiding? 2. The bedrooms are falling below the standard I’m used to in a Premier Inn. Although clean, the furniture is starting to look tired. Bedside tables had damage to the edging, and also the cupboard/ hanging area. 3, The bedroom net curtains look worn and dated, along with the curtains. 4. The bathroom is in need of updating. The bath had the appearance of age, the taps were also in poor condition. 5. The exterior/ garden areas looked dirty, old hanging baskets with dead plants from previous years adding to the feeling of tiredness to the building. 6. The bar is lacking atmosphere, very quiet during my visit unlike the last time I was here. Probably a reflection of the points I mention above. 7. A doorstop is required in the passage. I stayed in room 9. Several times, the door slammed against the wall when people opened it. It also banged when closing. Annoying if you’re trying to get to sleep. On a positive note, the bed was clean and comfortable. The towels were crisp and in good condition but the main thing keeping this hotel going is the staff. A great friendly bunch who always had time for a chat accompanied by a smile. Time to get your fingers out Premier Inn Management and get this hotel spruced up to its former glory. Would I stay here again, yes if they get the maintenance sorted and the above issues resolved, no if it’s allowed to slide into disrepair. There’s loads of other hotels out there so get your act together. On a positive note, the bed was clean and comfortable, the air conditioning worked fine, the towels were crisp and clean.

We were only advised after booking the meal deal that the restaurant was being refurbished. It had no atmosphere, and very few patrons on a Saturday evening. Food was very slow to arrive, and some items were not available. Sunday breakfast was a disappointment - no hot buffet, hot food took 40mins to arrive (pre-plated). Room was clean (if a little dated) and comfortable, quiet despite being near the main road.

I believe this could be the first Premier Inn ever open and long since forgotten about having the style of an 80s Travelodge. Rooms are dated although air con works fine so can have the room at a comfortable temperature without needing to open the room with the busy road at the front of the hotel and the room is perfectly clean. The bed is also fine being the standard Premier Inn one. Main corridors smell very strongly like they have been sponsored by Lynx Africa for some strange reason. Outside of hotel and pub/restaurant is scruffy with the pub having been one of the ones closed down by Whitbread but still open to hotel guests only before it gets knocked down to be replaced by an additional Premier Inn building to replace it. Given the reviews on here about the pub thought best steer clear for dinner but breakfast in the morning was standard Premier Inn offer. Would stay again if needed to although would choose other Premier Inns in the area ahead of this one.

Terrible avoid booking here We thought it loked tired when we arrived we were right! very tired and not a great welcome. Rooms are clean but very basic, not on a par with Premier inns usual standard They even have Rats around the car park to say good bye in the morning.

The welcome when I arrived at the hotel from the Receptionist was pleasant and efficient. The room was ok although the level of housekeeping could be improved. Unfortunately, everything began to go downhill from there. The hotel is incredibly noisy as its sandwiched between a number of main roads but this became the least of my worries! The restaurant next door (a sort of Beefeater under the name of the Comet) is functional but that’s where the positives end. The facility was quiet but it still took ages for a member of staff to pull themselves away from a staff gathering by the kitchen door. My starter was unappetising and looked like it had been thrown together with little care or interest. My main course (which was delivered before my starter had been removed) was dreadful and little more than tepid with soggy almost cold chips that were probably cooked 30 minutes previously. The quality of service is awful and there was an air that nobody seemed to care. At the end of my meal, after patiently waiting at the bar with another customer for more than 10 minutes, I had to extract a member of staff from the kitchen to pay my bill and get my fellow diner served. Nobody seems to care and there is an air of unprofessionalism. Is this really the best Whitbread can offer? I thought breakfast might be an improvement – ha ha! Cold bacon that was barely cooked, anaemic sausages (also tepid) and dry, gritty scambled egg that had been so overcooked! As a point of principle, when trying to write my daily report, the Premier Inn advert promoting their ‘Premier wifi service’ at an additional charge of £5 continued to pop up thus breaking my concerntration. Surely Whitbread don’t need to upsell their service to business users. It’s irritating, unnecessary and distracting. If Whitbread are that desperate, please add £5 onto the cost of the room so we no longer have to suffer the constant promotion. Over this year, I have stayed at a number of Premier Inns and, whilst the prices continue to rise, the standards continue to fall. The restaurants fail to offer healthier food and the quality has diminished. Some time ago I made the decision to stop using Premier Inns for these reasons but, due to the necessity of being in the area, I relented. After this experience, it will a long time before I stay again! DISGUSTING WHITREAD!!

Lovely warm room with airt conditioning (the website is incorrect--it says that there is no air con). It's a basic Premier Inn but everything is clean and the bed was comfy. It was good to have a restaurant next door. Lots of free tea and coffee.
