Avoid this hotel. It’s only for the boat people. The illegal boat people. Security on site beating people up for filming the outside of the building. Absolute money grappling scum bags own this hotel. How dare you close to the public and only welcome the illegals. I seriously hope no one ever uses you again and you go bankrupt. I hope it was worth it

Welcomed by yellow signs and buckets! Smell was disgusting! Hotel is run down, dated lacks any thing that resembles a hotel! Rooms are vile, curtains hanging off!!! Mix mash of furniture! Thank fully the hotel bar and restaurant is closed because you would not want to eat or drink anything that has been sat in this building!. Due to conference in Birmingham all Hotels in and around the area are full so unable to move! If you ever book here pleasexomeby car incase you need to go further out to find a hotel with even the basic standards. Hotke Should be shut down

We booked this just for one night to meet with relatives in the area. For somewhere to sleep for a night it was by far the cheapest option. I was a bit nervous after reading all the terrible reviews, but our room was actually very nice, clean and well presented. The reception are is lovely and the lady on reception gave us a very friendly welcome. The bed was comfortable and once I got the radiator on it was warm and cosy.

Great value hotel with very helpful staff. Stayed on Saturday night to attend a family gathering. We had accidentally made our booking for the wrong dates but that was no problem as the receptionist cancelled and gave us rooms for the night at a great rate. The room was basic but very comfortable with a good bed. Only came with 2 pillows but I asked the night concierge and he brought another to my room straightaway. I would definitely stay again

Stayed at the Roman Way for 2 nights after finding my original accommodation elsewhere wasn’t up to scratch. I needed somewhere affordable at very short notice, close to where I was based for the next few days and with parking. The pictures on TripAdvisor helped. Like a lot of hotels that were repurposed in the last few years and are returning to being open to the public, it will take time for this hotel to get back to its former self. At the time I stayed the Roman Way didn’t have an on-site restaurant or bar and was offering rooms only. This was made clear when booking and I’d done some research to see there were options in a relatively short distance for food and drink. This suited me as I usually go out and about when staying in hotels. I’ve stayed in a fair few hotels due to working away from home and the Roman Way would rank with some of the best in its class, which I’ve stayed in. The reception, corridors and outside areas were in a well maintained state. My room was a decent size and ideal for a solo traveller. Very clean and had everything I needed. The free WiFi worked very well. There was a TV in the room and space to work on a laptop. There wasn’t a kettle in the room, however there were tea and coffee making facilities in a room next to reception as well as bottled water and juice in a fridge. I don’t tend to drink tea and coffee so this didn’t bother me but there was ample provided. There was also a TV in this room. Reception is manned 24 hours. Every member of staff made conversation. The chap who checked me in and was working the evening shift on 23rd and 24th July was very helpful and gave me directions for the nearest supermarket. The room was a pleasant temperature and the hotel is set back enough from the main road for road noise to not be an issue. I slept pretty well. I’d recommend staying and would hope the hotel is back to offering what it did a few years ago in the near future. It has a lot of potential as photos of weddings and conferences in the past show.

Everything about this hotel was bad. At midnight there was a fire alarm go off and nobody bothered to move, there was one person on the desk as if no alarm going off, I was the only person in the carpark. Dogs poo in the coffee lounge, no kettles in the room and the rooms are a long distance from the coffee lounge.

RUN AWAY!!! Absolutely the most disgusting, dirtiest place I have ever seen. I wonder how they are allowed to operate as a hotel. Dead and live bugs around, creepy crawlers, including a huge spider. I actually wondered if sleeping in the car was not a better idea. We ended up there in desperation (our reservation elsewhere was cancelled and there this was the first available place we found.) The sheets and towels were clean (thank goodness!) but that was it. No toiletries. Empty soap dispenser in the bathroom. Not even enough toilet paper to use the bathroom. I would not have believed it if I had not seen it in person.

This hotel was built in the 70’s/80’s and it hasn’t been updated since. Its decor is awful, noise comes through from every wall. They seem to allow anyone to stay there who willingly make noise all through the night and cause trouble. The road is the main A5 and you can hear all the traffic, there is a car garage and a 24 hour transport cafe either side. Highly recommend going to the Premier Inn, or The Barnes, both a big improvement on The Roman Way.

Very tired hotel; we only wanted a cheap place to sleep and shower mid-journey and it was convenient for our needs just off the M6. We were there less than 11 hours. Fortunately we were not needing to eat or drink, as there is no provision or facilities anymore. There’s a big petrol station just up the road and a Beefeater. It wasn’t well signposted and the dim lighting made it look closed. I’m not sure I would have stopped if travelling alone. Fortunately we’d brought our own toiletries, hairdryer etc. You pay your money, your take your choice… it’s cheap and near the motorway.
