There is a minibus at the ferry. The hotel is right at the entrance of Hongye Valley Park. There is a stream garden at the door. Next door is the free bus to the park cable car. It takes only 3 minutes to walk to Itsukushima Taisha Shrine. It is very suitable for elderly and children to stay.
The hotel has a long history, and the walls are covered with photos of celebrities. You can also encounter deer when taking a hot spring bath. The staff is enthusiastic and English is OK. Most of the guests are foreigners and elderly people. Don't worry about staying there~
Note that you can't wear a yukata to Itsukushima Taisha Shrine!

Good ryokan with traditional Japanese fare for dinner and breakfast. Good service and a lovely place. I found it a little underwhelming for the price we paid which is the only reason for deducting a star. But still a nice experience overall and great to stay on Miyajima Island and beat the crowds by visiting the key sites in the early AM.

Fabulous location and friendly helpful staff BUT food was a disappointment. It completely lacked in flavour or any taste whatever. Some of the tiny dishes presented ( all beautifully presented) were of an unpleasant consistency, in many cases quite slimy. Wasn’t good. Room was just okay. Onsen was good. So all in all just okay for one or two nights but very expensive for what it is regrettably.

I wanted to experience Miyajima at night and it was the complete right call. We came from Tokyo in the morning and easily transitioned from the Shinkansen to the local train to the ferry. The ferry is a nice way to wind down and approach Miyajima. The ferry building called Iwaso to come pick us up. The van took a circuitous route up into the mountain then down to Iwaso. The location is perfect however because we walked to the Tori gate at low tide and also Dasho-in before dinner, walked to Tori gate at night in the high tide quiet moonlight and Dasho-in in the morning. Dinner was overly filling but a great experience eating in our Yakatas. I went to the Onsen and was the only one there. Loved the waitress who also checked us in.

First time in a Ryokan and we loved everything about it. The whole experience is fantastic and the surroundings are amazing. This is the right place if you want peace and quiet and good and curated food. The whole staff is kind and gentle which welcomes the guests with a smile and explains how the Ryokan works. The dinner (wearing a Yukata) was scrumptious and so was the breakfast (savoury) that is one of the best so far. The Ryokan holds an Onsen that we experienced which healed my sore feet. When we’ll be back in Miyajima, we’ll probably book the same spot.

This place was AMAZING. I have stayed in many Ryokan over the years and this was the most authentic and traditional I have been to while also being luxurious. I highly recommend this Roykan for a place to stay on Miyajima. Treat yourself and book it!
