Portsmouth (Havant)

To be avoided. It's not in either Portsmouth or Havant and has no redeeming features. Pay the extra and use one of the more modern Premier Inns in the towns. It's old and grubby and in dire need of some maintenance. The restaurant is detached from the hotel on hilly ground, so breakfast in your pyjamas can be a bit of an issue. Or if you are less than fully mobile. Or if its icy or raining. On the evening I visited, there was no Guinness, no bitter/ale and no standard lager. Only the Madri was on offer (not a bad beer but not was I was looking for). Oh, and the bar closed at 9:30 on a Friday evening.

There are two Premier Inn's within 10 minutes drive of each other. I would recommend you go to the other one. My room was clean enough and very basic, which is not a reason for a poor review. This hotel must be used for temporary housing judging by some of the clientele. There is no central space - my colleague and I needed to catch up on some work - so we tried the 'restaurant' which is just across the way and where breakfasts are served. After breakfast that is closed until 5pm at which time you can get drinks/food. Equally disappointing, with 4 out of 5 drafts unavailable. The staff were helpful and friendly enough - the place is just very tatty, tired and a bit of a rip off given the price. There are some nice bed and breakfasts in the locality that would have been better value. As an additional annoyance, there was a £15 charge for early check in even though the room was ready - I've never had that before.

We recently stayed at Premier Inn Havant while the hotel itself was comfortable, it could benefit from some updates as the rooms felt a little tired and in need of refreshing. That said, the service more than made up for it—especially from Lynne at reception, who was absolutely fantastic. Lynne went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, and her kindness and attentiveness, particularly in helping my elderly aunt, did not go unnoticed. She was warm, professional, and genuinely cared about making sure we had everything we needed. Despite the rooms needing some attention, the excellent customer service, cleanliness, and overall experience mean we would happily return. A huge thank you to Lynne for making our stay so much more enjoyable!

We recently stayed in this hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. There was a small issue with the card holder for the lights, it fell off. Lynne on reception went above and beyond to get us moved to another room. We were very impressed with the level of care and speed in which this matter was resolved. We will be looking forward to booking again very soon.

Issues with staffing and a supplier meant several items were off the menu and the restaurant was understaffed. What could have been a miserable evening was held together by Sam and Tom who were absolute stars, handling it with good humour and keeping us all informed and keeping the drinks flowing until the food arrived. Could have been memorably bad but turned out memorably good.

The room was spotless and comfy, with quality crisp fresh bed linens. The mattress was very comfortable leading to great night’s sleep. The shower room adequate in size with excellent powerful shower. Key card security to lifts to rooms. All staff helpful but an extra shout out to the server in the restaurant in the evening, Kieran. He was so helpful and efficient and friendly. Given he was the only server he wasn’t flustered at all, nor was anyone ignored and there were no delays to our meals or drinks! Amazing , thank you Kieran. There was a good menu choice and we combined the evening meal with breakfast making it really great value.
