My friend and I had two very tasty meals at the Star Inn on 17/12/24. We were served by Rachel, who I must say, was very polite, friendly and efficient; a real credit to the pub. We go to the pub fairly regularly and always receive a warm welcome - see you over Christmas!

Came here twice while on holiday. The hunters chicken was cooked perfectly and my nan and grandad had fish and chips. We also came for the Sunday roast and the meat was good. We all cleared our plates. There are lots of choices on the menu. You get a good portions for your money.

Sunday roast plated up on order. Decided to have menu mussels and chips. Mussels microscopic and not the best jus with it, more like flavoured water and charged extra for a piece of bread . My wife had veggie roast and it was smothered in gravy of unknown origin. Pleasant, helpful staff and atmosphere, but there are a lot more quality Sunday roasts out there that score more highly. Maybe too picky, but wasn’t cheap.🤔🤔🤔

An over large menu nothing cooked fresh everything microwaved. Very poor presentation Steak pie topping separated and difficult to cut, all the gravy had spilled out of dish and filled plate that it was standing on, carrots hard and cold , turnip cold, mash potato grey and cold red cabbage. I have never seen such an unappetising meal. Ice cream was OK but wafer was soft and wet. I did not eat any!! Did not complain obviously they do not have any idea of how a good meal should be cooked and served. Will never every recommend .

This is a lovely village pub with a friendly welcome and great service. We had booked which we would recommend as its get very busy. The pub has a car park on the side. Two lunches with a choice of meats were £12 each and you could have three meats if you wanted. We tried between us the beef, pork, turkey and ham and all were excellent. There was plenty of vegetables and extra gravy. Also there is a side of Cauliflower Cheese. Nice choice of Tarquin gins and well kept St Austell Proper Job. A really good find !

We went to the Star Inn for a meal this evening with friends from Kent. Heard some good reviews of the food, we are locals, and had a lovely lunch here last year. I had booked a few days ago but when we arrived we were told there was no booking but no problem, a table would be available. We all ordered fish and chips. When I saw the meals coming over to us my immediate thought was the batter looked over done, it was very dark brown and looked hard. The fish was definitely over cooked. When the waitress came and asked if all was ok, my husband said that the fish was over cooked. She said ok, I’ll tell the chef, and that was it. We left all the batter. We ordered desserts, one of which should have been chocolate brownie. This looked more like dried chocolate sponge and was burnt. Our male friend called the waitress over and said it was unacceptable. Instead of just apologising, asking if he would like another and taking it away she asked what was wrong with it? He said you could clearly see it was burnt and asked for it to be taken off the bill, the waitress then went on to say she could see that it was burnt but they had sold a lot of that pudding and no one else had complained and that she needed to know to tell the chef. Our friend over reacted but he was surprised at her attitude. She then came back and said the dessert was taken off the bill which she was going to do anyway! I have worked as a waitress myself and sometimes you feel like saying something but you have to be professional. This wasn’t the case this evening unfortunately.

Absolutely beautiful building, our room was the lookout and was clean and comfortable. We stayed room only and didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere in the bar was welcoming. There was even live music, and we stayed on a Tuesday night! Not sure I would recommend for a family or those with mobility issues as the steps up to the room were steep and uneven in width, but taken slowly there was no problem.

Lovely old pub, excellent food and friendly staff. Also very doggy friendly. Our Bertie was given pats and biscuits. Will definitely come again. Fairly large car park and not far from St Erth station. Can highly recommend this pub. So can Bertie
