We went to the hotel start of the season… the food was extremely good and staff was very pleasant. Past tense we had the fortune to have one of the old chefs menus (the one with the glasses). We came back this week for the day to try the food and go to the beach etc.. we got told the chef has gone!!! So we went anyway … it wasn’t great - most was over cooked and didn’t really have much about it. It was such a shame we were so looking forward to coming back. Maybe give us a ring when the old chef comes back which we pray he does. But on a positive note the beaches are incredible but overall no where really to eat. Sarah!

We have just returned from 4 relaxing nights staying in The Whitehouse Hotel on the stunning island of Herm. The hotel was clean and comfortable if a little dated which only added to its charm. The lounge area downstairs was spacious and very comfortable and was especially cosy with a lit fire in the evening. The breakfasts were delicious with lots of choice. Every member of staff we encountered were friendly and helpful especially the lady on reception, Vincent from Kenya who made great cocktails and the Scottish guy with glasses who served us in The Mermaid. We ate mostly in The Mermaid where we found the food to be delicious and good value. The whole island is unspoilt and a haven for nature and we never saw any litter. We can’t wait to come back next year.

We had a room separate from main hotel. Room was clean with comfy bed, had very large bathroom. No TV, which we quite liked, helpful staff in reception and restaurants. Enjoyed the outdoor pool too. This was our first visit to Herm but we will return as we really enjoyed, thank you

A comfortable room, good bed, commodious bathroom, but it is the island itself that is the real star. With perfect sandy bays and no traffic it is the perfect chill out destination. Yes you can go for a day trip but staying at the hotel means you can take your time rather than rushing for the last boat home. And the evenings are stunning. Almost no light pollution = an incredible field of stars shining brightly. And normally it is still and quiet - although occasionally the Mermaid [pub] hosts an event with an evening boat from/to Guernsey. Then it can be noisy but these events end shortly after 10pm. The hotel was also rather cheaper than the last time I stayed many years ago. To me it is second best to the self-catering cottage option on Herm but those are available for a minimum of 3 nights and the White House is a very good alternative if you can't stay that long.

Lovely to be back at this most perfect of hotels for a week. Our room (Harbour Cottage) was large fresh and clean. Its location made it a little noisy at times, but excellent double glazing helped when we wanted more peace. Its private garden is a little sun trap. Dinner in the hotel was better than ever — a simplified menu, but excellent high-quality fare. The hotel staff struck the perfect balance of formality and friendliness. The small number of more junior hotel staff meant that they were clearly at the edge of capacity in terms of their workload, but they managed brilliantly. We will be back next year, and hopefully for many years to come.

This was my first stay on the Island. The initial hick up with our room was quickly sorted out by the new Deputy Manager, he could not have been more helpful. Our accommodation had a lovely sea view, the bed was comfortable and the room clean. As I have a garlic allergy the staff catered for this very well, I was kept informed of the food which wouldn’t suit me. Even at breakfast, nothing was too much trouble, I preferred berries with my pancakes and the menu was adapted for me. I understand there has been some previous bad press, however, under the new management team it looks like the changes being implemented are positive. It was a very enjoyable stay and I will be back next year. I would like to compliment all the staff for being so helpful and attentive. I would advise you bring essentials such as mosquito repellent etc as the little shop here is limited. If you want peace and tranquility this is the place to come!

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of an island hopping tour - unfortunately the hotel website is very misleading.... the rooms are not as pictured due to a recent renovation. This has ruined the appearance of the rooms down to poor workmanship. Paint has been left on carpets, masking tape has been left on the windows and walls, the bath was chipped and it has an overall feel of poor quality. We stayed in the crows nest which is a lovely suite and has great distant views. To be picky seeing the gas bottles and rubbish areas below was not pleasant. The food.....well we didnt eat dinner as breakfast was appalling - the quality of food is appalling - eggs royale turned up cold and on a stale untoasted muffin. The following morning offered the incorrect breakfast then had to ask after a long wait why it was taking so long.....we ordered bacon and sausages to make our own sandwiches - how hard can it be? The staff are lovely and so are the gardens and pool area. It needs to step up as it was not a pleasant stay.

Lovely stay as always: Herm island is a hidden gem between France and the UK. The White House hotel did not disappoint. The restaurant was actually better then ever and the meals served were excellent and demonstrated the commitment and talent of the current chief. He and his crew really pampered us during our stay. Irene, Victor, Ruby, Ken and all colleagues at the hotel and the Island staff at Herm administration: many thanks.
