Clean, quiet and comfortable accommodation. Swimming pool, sea views, bar and a mini supermarket just up the road. Friendly team working here. I’ll definitely return.

We stayed here for 1 month during September - October 2024 so our review is quite detailed! Whilst I appreciate that we "cannot expect champagne with lemonade money", cleanliness is a basic human right and this place is not clean at all! It's also significantly less than basic and without most things needed to be classed as self-catering. Experience  Upon arrival, there was no-one to greet us, no information on how to check in and no details on what to do. We saw someone sweeping the stairs but she didn't speak any English, however, a staff member arrived (after around 5 minutes) and checked us in, scanning our passports etc. We were given keys to a room and told where to go.   Up a steep ramp and onto a very poorly laid path, we found our room; B1. Unfortunately, it was a double bed and we are a mother and daughter. We asked to move but was told this wasn't possible for a few days. We also asked if we could have a room upstairs and was told no because only studios were downstairs. We weren't given an option for anything else when we booked with easyJet.  We appear to have arrived on the birthday of the sister that partially owns Petra Village, Vaso and my, did she have a whole day of music, drinking, friends and their children over!? I don't find this very professional and relaxing in the pool whilst the children of her friends threw floats all over the place was annoying. Then again, we had just had a sleepless night before a 7am flight and the journey to Petra Village. B1 was quite a terrible room with a very poor quality mattress, a small and dark 'balcony' (just the entrance to the front door area) and a view of broken and smashed furniture underneath a constant leaking water tank resulting in a smelly swamp underneath. Not good impressions so far! That evening, we asked for 2 extra pillows because they are very flat and we were told someone would bring them. Unfortunately, this never happened so we asked again in the morning before heading out. We confirmed the room number and again was told they'd be taken to our room. We got back early afternoon to find no extra pillows so asked the same woman (Vaso) a third time but this time, we offered to take them ourselves. She insisted and said they had a key to get into our room and leave the pillows so we waited... Sadly, no-one ever brought us extra pillows so we took the 2 from B1 with us to C1. Poor service so far.  2 nights later and we were moved to C1 with some persistence. This was a slightly better room at least with two single beds and a slight sea view. However, the kitchen and ensuite are very mouldy (see photos), we didn't have an outside light (just bare wires but we asked for one to be fitted and it was), loose slabs to the front door, a microwave with a plug that was too short to reach the plug point and a broken clothes airer by the front door. Basic is an understatement. Whilst I appreciate you "cannot expect champagne when paying lemonade prices" as many who keep returning

Wasn’t an option to select an accurate time of visit as we visited over a year ago - in May 2023 and it was THE BEST holiday my boyfriend & I have ever had together. Please don’t let the negative reviews put you off, there are some people who will find a complaint in everything! YES - the room are basic but this is to be expected when staying in Greek accommodation. I have just booked again for May 2025 and could not be more excited! Vaso and Vasillis could not be more accommodating and friendly. There are lots & lots of brilliant restaurants nearby, we recommend “Onari” and “Captain Fox”. The guy who runs it there is called “Fokion”, the best lamb kleftiko we ate during our two week stay. The sports bar which is a 5 minute walk away from the apartments was great too! If you fancy taking a trip into the next big town, Hersonissos was a 30-35 minute walk away. The next village on, “Piskipiano” is beautiful also, very similar to Koutouloufari. If you enjoy a proper, authentic Greek holiday, Koutouloufari is the place for you. The views are stunning, the town is beautiful and the people are so friendly! This will be somewhere we return time and time again I just know it. The Greek themed nights that Petra put together are really fun. If I remember correctly, it was BBQ night every Friday. Amazing food also. I couldn’t recommend enough, once again please don’t let the negative reviews put you off! I wholeheartedly give Petra Village a 5 star rating.

Got off to Avery shaky start, given a key to a room with no number on the door, didn't even take time to show us where the room was. Also sent us up the stairs instead of suggesting the smooth path at the side, obviously got to keep bar users topped up.Lets be under no illusions as to where these apartments are ,they are half way up a mountain not really suitable if you haven't got hooves honestly no exaggeration. If you are happy to shop in koutouloufari or piskopiano you will be ok.the walk down to hersonisos is steep and multiply by 10 coming back up.Best way down and back is by turning right and straight down best route back we found. The pictures give a false sense of flat.no way 15 steps at side of reception and then we had another twenty 5 steps up to room. The rooms are basic but functional and after many years of coming to Greece self catering my husband is a dab hand at making do with what is provided for cooking. Toilet was dirty as was shower definitely new curtain needed.shower was very powerful and there was always hot water hottest we've ever had😀living room/bedroom was nice and spacious.separate bedroom was nice but a tight fit round the bed as wardrobe too big for room. First 5 days bins were emptied and bed was changed, never saw anybody in our room after that we ended up taking sheets off spare beds in living room to refresh the double room. Personal opinion ,nothing very inviting about bar area,I do wish hotels and apartments would go a little radical and offer something Greek.Dont travel all that way for what I can get at local kebab House eg burger chips pizza. Would I go again, yes now I know what's there.tip don't take bottom apartments no view and to be honest it's worth the climb for the view.also enjoyed the convoy of goats coming round the mountain.

We arrived at the hotel and there was nobody at reception just a key on the desk with our name on it. Our apartment was up a hill and up stairs although we contacted the hotel prior because my grandmother has breathing difficulties and also came with my young child with a pram so was quite difficult carrying pram up stairs . The rooms was very much basic and unclean. Bathroom had a death smell and shower curtains was disgusting. Room wasn’t cleaned the whole week of being there. Beds was very hard. Wanted to spend a day by the pool with my young child but couldn’t due to the pool being so unclean and having green slippery tiles which was very unsafe. Plugs falling off the walls so dangerous!! I requested a cot on my booking and contacted the hotel to make sure there was a cot in our room for when we came but there was not cot when we got there. Had to ask the next day and they brought one to the room but cot was falling apart and dirty !

First of all let us clarify this is a basic 1 star rated accommodation and the owners do not suggest otherwise. The climate/tourist tax is payable at the lowest 1 start rate. However, whilst we were expecting only basic this was probably the poorest quality accommodation we have stayed in. The studio including bathroom was filthy and was not cleaned. We went up to 5 days during 14 nights stay without bins being emptied. Bedding was changed once in 14 nights. I tried cleaning some of the dirt between the tiles in the shower and I made a difference in 30 seconds... so the current owners have done little over the last 3 years of running it? The pool area is also dirty. You only need to look at the sunbeams, tables, chairs, mattresses to see these are in need of a clean. The owners/staff however are very helpful and many holiday makers seemed to spend all day (and night) around the bar. Perhaps they got rooms cleaned more often for spending so much? We spoke to other guests and they thought the same as us. I'd never go back. And yet others love it. Thinking about the place and how dirty it was makes me crawl a little. Also the websites say the rooms are well suited for self catering - we had a small frying pan for cooking. And some plates, glasses and small coffee cups. That's about it.

Lovely week away, yes the rooms are basic and could do with updating, but they are clean and have everything you need. The pool area and gardens are beautiful as are the views down to Hersonissos. The pool bar has a variety of food and drinks at reasonable prices, we enjoyed delicious lunches there most days. It is a short walk into the village which has a great range of shops and restaurants and if you want a more lively day/evening out you can walk down the hill into Hersonissos, but you may need a taxi back up! (€8-10) By far the best thing about Petra is the owners! Vaso and Vasilis are both so welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts and I look forward to seeing them again soon!
