Amazing place. Two weeks here with the most amazing owners and staff. They become like family and we have met some friends from all over the world. Basic accommodation; typically Greek. Clean. Good pool area with plenty of sun beds. Ideally located between the villages and main Hersonissos. Yes there is a hill but do able even in the heat and plentiful taxis. Yiannis and his sister go out of their way to make you comfortable and the bar stays open as long as necessary. Thoroughly recommend

Far from the best place we’ve stayed at when visiting Crete. We booked a one bedroomed apartment and it was so small two of us couldn’t go in the bathroom together I have never stayed anywhere on holiday where they only change youre towels once during a 7 night stay. Both our rooms only had our towels changed once and that was the day after I asked for fresh towels which is not good when it’s 32-35 degrees and need to have 2/3 showers a day The shower head is basically knackered sprays everywhere and barely stays in the holder we was scared to move it for fear of it breaking altogether Kitchen very small indeed and no way could you cook in that space if ya wanted to They provide on arrival one toilet roll then you’re told you have to buy you’re own which we did 10 euros to use the safe box 10.50 tourists tax 56 euro for air conditioning 8 euros per day Hotel is up a big hill so not good for people with breathing difficulties we had to pay for taxis everytime we went out Lots of noise from the pool bar in the evening until around 2/3am Yanis is a lovely barman very friendly Prices on the bar are expensive £7 for a vodka and £5 for an alcopop said they have to make their money before they close on 15th October for 6 months Pool was nice but the bottom was dirty with sand and leaves The cleaner came in 6 of the 7 days and not once was our bathroom cleaned or the sink in the bathroom and was never mopped at all. Under the beds had all bits and dust under them Only one cleaner for 28 rooms that need to be done daily is too much. She told me her day at the hotel starts at 4am every morning until 2/3pm on a good day or until 7/8pm on a bad day. They should have at least another 2 cleaners in my opinion she shouldn’t be doing all those hours on her own. Would we return here definately not. The weather was amazing.

Aug 24, A fab family holiday 4 adults and 13 year old teenager. Small family run apartments, spotless clean, comfy beds. Yanis and his sister Areti run the show. They did everything they could to make our stay a wonderful experience. The apartments are basic, good value for the price we paid. The snack bar is handy, the pool is lovely and clean, enough sunbeds for everyone. We were on the ground floor and had our breakfast out on the veranda looking at pomegranate trees, the sun shining, the simplicity of it all reminded us that you don't need much to thoroughly enjoy good times. Apartments are perfectly situated not far from the beach and close to Koutouloufari on the hillside which is truly beautiful and a must to visit at night time for lovely restaurants and atmosphere. Yanis got us a taxi up the hill and we walked back down. We had dinner on the beach with the sea tipping our toes, boat trip to an island and swim in the sea, a day at Star beach and a couple of afternoons on the jetty at King Scorpion, with steps down the warmest sea I have ever been in. Yanis ordered us a take away one night and we had a great time around the bar, playing pool and getting to know other guests. This is a family run business, basic, quaint, clean, comfortable although slightly dated but that does not detract from the beautiful holiday we have had. Yanis, Areti and their family make you very welcome, their hearts and souls are in this place, if you go embrace it and enjoy it. Thank you to Yanis, Areti, Papa Manos, Maria and little Manos, you are a beautiful family, we were privileged to stay with you. We hope to see you again.

I never right reviews but feel the need to for this place……. We have just returned from Mareva Apartments as a group of 8 and are already looking to book for next year. We had a fantastic holiday owing largely to the hotel and welcoming environment provided by Yiannis and Areti. They really do go above and beyond to get to know guests on a personal level, providing support and recommendations throughout the holiday and creating an atmosphere that will draw you back after venturing out for the day/evening. The rooms are kept spotless by Maria and more than adequate for a family of 4 to live in for a few weeks. The bar provides food/snacks throughout the day which is reasonably priced and Yiannis will keep the bar open until you are ready to call it a night. What impressed me most was the emphasis on creating a family friendly atmosphere, groups mingled and talked during the days and evenings and the kids easily made friends and were introduced to each other by Yiannis if it looked like they were missing out on the fun. The hill is a stumbling block but works in the favour of the hotel for me as it appeases access to the old town style restaurants and bars at the top and the lively nightlife marina at the bottom. You will want to switch it up and use both during your stay, but both provide a variety of restaurants, take out, shops, bars and entertainment. During our stay we did the aqua park which was brilliant and used Star Beach on a few occasions where you could rent a sunbed for the day (8 euros) and have access to a variety of adventure pools and sandy beach. We also visited the aquarium which is around a 25-minute walk from the hotel, it only takes around an hour to get round but is well worth a visit for the interactive room where kids and adults can hold some of the reptiles. We will back next year to see Manos

Had a great week here, nice quiet place, only approx 30 rooms. Being on the small side works in its favour as everyone takes the time to talk to each other around the pool and bar, not like a massive hotel with a thousand guests and several bars on site. Brilliantly run by brother and sister Yiannis and Areti, Maria the cleaner (rooms cleaned every day, bed changed and fresh towels once during our week stay) and Costas who is gardener, pool guy, cook and looks after the maintenance. Like other reviewers have commented you can't beat the place for location. A five minute walk downhill brings you to the shops, main ***** and tourist bits. Walk up hill, ten minutes maximum and you'll reach the village with traditional tavernas and roof top eateries with views down to the sea. Accommodation is basic but you've not paid Savoy prices! Although self catering you'd be hard pressed to knock a meal up with whats provided kitchen wise but if you're like us, just making a brew and a sandwich and eating out, then it's perfectly adequate. If you've been to other self catering establishments in Greece then you'll know what to expect, a certain rustic vibe seems the norm. What sets this place apart is Areti and Yiannis. It's nice to be looked after by the owners, Areti runs the pool bar and reception during the day, Yiannis by night. The personal touch goes a long way, like Yiannis picking people up from the bottom of the hill (the transfer coach can't turn around so won't come up the hill) and one night we stayed in and I was going to walk into town for a take away, Yiannis ordered it for me to be delivered, after all his Greek is better than mine! We're already looking at booking again for next year, maybe sooner! Thanks for a great time, see you soon, Lee and Amanda.

Brilliant value! We have just had an excellent 2 weeks at mareva apartments, we hired a car to explore the island and mareva was a perfect base, we were made very welcome by Yannis and family who will do whatever they can to help. Rooms were cleaned every day, Maria the cleaner even goes around about 5am every morning and folds all the towels that have been left out to dry overnight. She definitely goes the extra mile. Rooms are basic but have everything you need. It’s not Five star but it’s not Five star prices either. If I had paid double the price that I paid I would still have been happy. I would definitely return and would recommend to anyone but if you’re expecting luxury then book a Five star and pay the price difference. Thank you to Yannis and family for a wonderful holiday. Andy, Diane & Jake.
