The welcome,hospitality, accommodation and meals were outstanding. The game drives informative and exciting. Lucan, our ranger, has an outstanding knowledge of animals trees,birds and plants. Dannie, our tracker, finds game in impossible locations. What a great experience we enjoyed. Thank you.

Shimungwe is a hidden gem in Thornybush Game reserve! We were thoroughly spoiled with mouthwatering food and excellent gameviewing! Lucan and Danny, our guide and tracker, went out of their way to find the big five. We had ample time to relax in the presence of these awesome animals observing them up close! To our delight, Lucan has extensive knowledge of birds and trees too and we were able to enjoy ticking many interesting species off our list. The friendly staff made our stay so comfortable and relaxing, we really felt valued and at home. We had an unforgettable experience and would love to visit Shimungwe again!

If you are thinking about going on safari, consider staying at Shimungwe Lodge in Greater Krueger Park, South Africa. My family's experience was outstanding from dawn to dusk each day! Spotter Daniel and Game Driver Lukan have exquisite knowlege of the animals, understanding of their favorite hideouts, and showed deep respect for being in their "home". We felt safe in their hands, and honored to be in the presence of such exquisite creatures. As each day unfolded, there was a new adventure awaiting with creatures we had not seen the day before, along with volumes of information Lucan shared with us about what we were witnessing. The staff at this beautiful lodge was deligtful, and extremely service oriented. Shimungwe only has 4 rooms, each holding two people and is booked over a year out, so we were very fortunate to slip in with only a month's notice. Be sure to ask for some Chakalaka at one of the meals! The chef gave me the recipie, but somehow I doubt it will taste the same when I cook it.

Book this for the best safari and tracker guides!!! We saw everything including a pride of lions on a hunt. The guide has 25 years of experience and the tracker has 21 years of experience. They are brothers and not only work well together, but are very knowledgable. The most amazing food and accommodations, you will not be disappointed. We had the best game drives, drinks, sunrises and sunsets. Staff are EXCEPTIONAL.

Absolutely stunning place had an extremely special time. The staff are amazing and make the experience truly incredible. The food is prepared by the chef who didn't disappoint absolutey delicious meals every single night we stayed. The wildlife was also amazing, saw everything truly and experience like no other.

Our stay was amazing. The lodge is small and cozy and the staff exceeded all expectations.. We had been to South Africa before, but this time was even better. The location is very good to spot the Big 5. It is unfortunate that these vacations have to come to an end.
