This was an amazing trip. We were taken by Land Rover twice per day on a ride to see all of the wildlife of the region. The guides and trackers were knowledgeable and incredible personable. Back at the lodge, the staff were attentive and made us feel welcome and at home. We are already talking about a return trip!

Our family’s stay at Ezulwini for Christmas was nothing short of spectacular. Every aspect of the trip was met with care and attention to detail, from booking the stay with Frances (who managed our many trip changes and additions, the seamless transfers to the hotel) to the darling husband and wife managers, Craig and Ang, that oversee the lodges themselves. Their entire team goes above and beyond to make every aspect of your experience comfortable—from the most luxurious of accommodations to the preparation of the delicious and plentiful food, even accommodating my son’s food challenging food allergies. I corresponded with Ang directly about his limitations via email, and she was happy to discuss ingredients, and even came up with some recipes for him, which she sent me upon request after the trip! They are engaged but not intrusive, hosts, and extremely knowledgeable. The focus on hospitality is evident, and the entire team really seems to love their jobs. They even prepared a fantastic Christmas feast for us and shared their culture with us in a campfire and songs on Christmas night. The setting is in the middle of the nature reserve, and is breathtaking at both lodges, with well-appointed rooms, that included coffee and tea and a fridge with beverages of your choice. It was truly the epitome of spacious, indulgent comfort. A small note, the toiletries and bug repellant are made by Ang, herself. We stayed at both the Billy and River lodges, finding both grand and inviting. The twice a day safaris were absolutely fantastic! You are given water bottles that are refillable with their water that you can drink from the tap safely. Our guides and trackers were highly experienced and eager to made sure we saw everything, and we saw leopards, lions, rhinos, elephants, hyenas, hippos, impala, giraffes, wild dogs, etc. You even stop on the safari in the morning for coffee and biscuits and a cocktail or wine on the evening safaris, while you enjoy the sun setting on the horizon. It was just lovely. We did note that our game trucks were covered, while some of the other lodges did not have trucks with covers, and I was glad die outs with the sun! On our last day, one of the long tusked bull elephants, Ezulwini himself (!), came and stood outside as if to say goodbye to us! The staff was just as amazed and excited and appreciative as we were. The respect for the animals and the environment was without question. They also focus on your safety, and I must admit I was worried about that with the animals before we went. This was possibly a trip of a lifetime for us, and even our teenage boys put their phones away for the safaris, taking them out just for pictures. It was a wonderful 6 days together and I’m so grateful we took the leap to go! Our memories are priceless! Ang told us a number of people return for a second trip, and I can understand why! I cannot recommend Ezulwini Game Lodge enough. You will absolutely not regret this trip!
