Extremely welcoming staff! And very comfy beds! I lost a ring while staying and once I realised I made a quick phone call, they immediately went to my room to search and with in minutes it had been located and organised to be returned! Fantastic service!

We live quite local to this pub but even though we dine out regularly we have never tried it before, we thought we give it a go to see if it could be somewhere we would add to our favourites. It won’t be. The pub is lovely, in an amazing location, the staff were good. The food really let it down, dried out bap for the burger, soggy salad, small portion of undercooked frozen chips to go with the Cajun chicken. The pub is great for stopping for a drink after a good walk but for us that would be all.

Absolutely fabulous stay, we went for one night on a Thursday - stayed in room 5, a lovely double, lovely night's sleep and a fab breakfast, enjoyed so much we asked if we could stay another night, yes we could and was moved to room 4. Another double room with a skylight as a window, so woke up early due to the light coming in, in the morning! Lol my fault, I had put my bag on top of the remote control which closed the blind! But again another good day and night so asked if they had a room for the Saturday night- hello room 7. This room is entered at the side of the pub and was the best out of the three rooms! I think there are 5 or 6 rooms we have not been in yet, so will definitely be back. Breakfast is great, evening meal we had one night was beautiful, the pie is recommended! Staff lovely and welcoming

We popped in for some post hike sustenance last Sunday and the food was exactly what we needed! 2 perfect roasts and 2 scrummy desserts, me and my partner were fighting over the gravy bowls! I recommend the hot chocolate fudge cake with the cold double cream, although I am a little biased! We are not locals but we wish we were! We will be back...

Fantastic mini break stay. Perfect location, booking in easy. Lovely old pub and atmosphere. Room was very hot and the radiator wouldn't turn off, it was a consistent heat, really helpful staff and moved us into another room of our choice, bigger room and bed. Clean, could do with a bigger tv in rooms with apps, bed was comfortable. Tea making facilities was great, proper sized kettle. Would stay again.

Stayed at the pub Friday and Saturday 31st January and 1st February. The room was very clean & the bed was super comfortable. The heating made the room very difficult to get out of bed, it was that toasty! We had an issue with the TV / wi fi on the first day. I went down to the bar to get some advice and a very friendly chap (he used to work there) sorted it out for us! Great stuff. We ate in the pub on Saturday night. The food was excellent and value for money. The pub was in an ideal spot for us to explore the Peak District. The breakfast on both mornings set us up for the day and we didn't feel like we needed to eat lunch afterwards! Well done to Laura and her husband for being great hosts.

My husband and I had a night at The Cheshire Cheese Inn. The pub was extremely busy so we were pleased that we had booked a table. We had an excellent evening meal, homemade steak and ale pie and venison haunch. The real ale is extremely well kept. The staff were friendly and did a fantastic job! Bedroom was quiet and cosy. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was delicious, especially the bacon and the Derbyshire oatcake. I would recommend this pub and you will be made to feel welcome whether you are popping in for a drink or staying for a meal or night.

The pub is just 10 mins walk from the Losehill Hotel where my wife and I were staying. Walked down from the hotel as it was a dry afternoon. Nice to see the pub was fairly busy, but we got a table without any problem. I suspect groups of four people or more would be advised to book a table in advance. Very small bar area inside the pub, but it had everything we wanted. A few beers/ales on tap, a few non-alcoholic beers, and all the other things you would expect. Barman was very busy but got to us quite quickly. Pub is very old (16th century) so inside is quirky and has quite low ceilings and door ways. I am not a tall person but even I ducked at times. We didn't have food this visit, but the menu looked fine and the dishes we did see being delivered to other tables all looked very good.
