The front desk service needs improvement. My stay was from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th, and during those days, I had three uncomfortable experiences with the staff in this area, which negatively impacted my overall experience at the hotel. After a long trip to the city of Huancayo, I arrived to check in around 6 p.m. The front desk staff had no record of my reservation, which resulted in me being charged a different rate than the one I had booked, applying a "walk-in" rate despite me showing my reservation code several times. I was very tired, didn’t want to argue, and simply accepted the rate because I needed rest and didn’t know of any other nearby hotels. The second incident occurred at check-out (11 a.m.) when they tried to charge me for a room service order that I never placed (S/ 50 for a hamburger). I told the front desk agent that I was willing to wait while they verified that the charge was not mine. They informed me that the order had been placed on Saturday the 26th in the afternoon, at a time when I wasn’t even in the hotel, as I returned past midnight (when room service was no longer available). I felt uncomfortable leaving, as the agent just resignedly accepted what I told him, giving me the impression that he still doubted me. It’s really unpleasant to leave a place feeling like the staff might think you’re someone who leaves without paying for something you supposedly consumed. Thirdly, on Saturday, I asked the front desk for help in ordering a taxi. The agent on duty was unhelpful; she just suggested I download an app to order it myself without offering any guidance on the app’s name. I understand that I’m a national tourist, but I don’t know the city well, and I approached her for help because I genuinely needed it. Overall, the front desk service leaves much to be desired, especially since I have been a customer of Casa Andina on other occasions and know the quality of care they usually provide to guests. Since this is an affiliated hotel, I expected the same treatment. I would also like to mention that the TV/cable service did not work during my stay. I didn’t report it because I didn’t need it, but I believe these services should be in optimal working order, regardless of whether the guest uses them or not, since the rate is not inexpensive, and it’s expected that all amenities are available. On a positive note, I want to sincerely commend the housekeeping staff and the breakfast buffet servers, who were kind, helpful, and attentive to detail. Their service was the only thing that made me feel comfortable in the hotel and the only reason I would consider returning.
