The hotel staff and room was excellent. Beautiful breakfast room, with so much choice. Delicious evening meal and nice atmosphere - love the bottle shop too ! Sandwiched between the medieval bridge and the castle, it’s a lovely part of town.

This is an experience of two halves. . The hotel is a lovely old building licated beautifully next to the river. The bedroom was fine with a gorgeous big bath and a great choice of pillows. My only quibble was with the curtains which not being well lined, let in a lot of street light and certainly impacted my sleep. It’s a shame really because this could have been so easily avoided with some blackout lining. Coming onto the other half. It’s a very different story. It’s a shame that a hotel at such quality should have such poor food and maybe this was why the restaurant was so quiet. My burger – at £20 including service, was a wretched affair with a bun which had shrunk to almost nothing and was swimming in fat. The croquettes as a starter were tasteless, having no discernible seasoning. The breakfast was no better. No choice of egg, no toast under the egg. Nasty button mushrooms. Average bacon. Overcooked sausage. What a shame! In a hotel of this class, you look forward to a nice breakfast and don’t expect to get one of greasy spoon standard. The last word has to be about the staff who are absolutely brilliant. Some of the best trained I’ve ever come across, especially the woman serving in the bar.

We visited The Old Bridge for a special family meal and booked the private dining room. The points given are for the food which was delicious. However, the experience at The Old Bridge was ruined by the lack of customer care and general common sense. At the time of booking the private room, we were told that the £100 (not had to pay a fee for the room before!) would be deducted from the final bill. We arrived for our meal, ate our meal and paid the bill and left (with the £100 accordingly deducted from the bill). Much later in the evening we received a call at home from The Old Bridge, informing us that we had been incorrectly told at the time of booking and on paying the bill that the £100 would be deducted, as it is not deductible. The Old Bridge caller rudely asked for the £100 to be paid immediately and when we asked to speak to the manager they were unavailable. Even after asking the Old Bridge caller to re-consider as it was their mistake that their staff had on 2 separate occasions confirmed the £100 would be deducted, he refused to re-consider. The Old Bridge is not what it used to be and we are unlikely to return - a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend The Old Bridge and there are much nicer eating establishments who value their customers.

We booked the cold Bridge for my daughter’s wedding reception. We were not disappointed, the canapés and hog roast were delicious. Prosecco was an available when it was needed. Chris and team were very attentive making sure everything was just right, Chris never stopped smiling and nothing was too much trouble, he was very flexible with timings he accommodated us so well I can praise him and his team enough. When we booked we had regular communication with Sarah, and a tour around the area. She was able to accommodate all our needs, including his and her cocktails. The whole evening went swimmingly and everyone who came said what a lovely venue it is. We were very lucky with the weather and with heating under the awning outside most people sat outside. As part of the package we got the four bedrooms over the various rooms and bar we were occupying, these were amazing the pillows were so good, we also got a full English breakfast which was lovely. Overall I would recommend The Old Bridge, it was the perfect venue for a perfect night

We have loved this place over the years and came here for a special occasion. The staff in the wine shop were incredibly knowledgeable and we picked some exceptional wines, the staff in the bar also very helpful. Our waitress in the restaurant Erin literally couldn’t do enough, her knowledge on wine pairings was great and due to staff shortages in the kitchen and a wedding on, she rectified a late meal straight away. Would highly recommend. The staff are great so you won’t be disappointed with the hospitality.

My wife and I have been coming to the Old Bridge for many years. We came yesterday to see the standards being set by the newish owners-the Chestnut Group- as we know they have made recent changes. The Set Lunch at £32 for 3 courses was very good and we enjoyed the whole experience. The Staff were many and attentive. Moira looked after us well and enjoys being there. The food was excellent and of a high standard. The Duck Pate with its croquettes and almonds was a tasty and pleasant start. The Pork belly was the best I have had for a long time-not too much-juicy-very good edible crackling The Pavlova again hit the mark-nicely presented-also with strawberries and a touch of mint The house red wine was soft smooth and very drinkable. Plenty of of cold tap water available. The ambience was its usual warm natural feeling, The car park was full. We will come back soon-long may they keep up the good work we have all enjoyed for a long time at this well known local hotel. John T

After my experience , what could only be described has terrible! my meal along with my three guests was absolutely awful! portions were so small for the cost things were missing off of our seafood board. My steak was well passed well done I requested medium rare. I don’t know what’s happened to the peppercorn sauce just horrific. please take my advice and run the opposite way from this hotel.
