We camped at Mvuu Lodge for 4 nights. We appreciated the relative proximity to Lower Zambezi NP, the wildlife in and around the camp, the own ablution facilities to each camp site, the very friendly staff, the food at the restaurant and the overall experience. Thank you for a beautiful time. We will visit again.

Mvuu Lodge gives a wonderful experience of Zambian bush. You do not have to go out to see the wildlife. The wildlife comes to see you! The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. Especially when you want to find the best sports fishing spots on the Lower Zambezi. Visit the bar and meet John and John who will regale you with stories and have you relaxed and smiling with their infectious nature. For the campers, there are demarcated camping sites all under established trees and personal ablutions including showers (both hot and cold water). You'll be assisted by your personal campsite caretaker. Stanley and Bonda will prepare your camp fire ready for cozy evenings, listening to the bush change it's song from daylight to nocturnal notes. Take a dip in the pool and have your drinks brought to you, dine on delicious supper, breakfast and lunches. Better still! Go and experience this hidden gem. A life away from other Lodges. You will not regret it.

The campsite is lovely with plenty of shade and grass. Attendants were cleaning and available all the time. Abolitions where spotless and in good condition, lots of hot water etc. we used the boats for fishing and sunset birdwatching cruises.

We camped at the Monkey campsite in September 2024 and had a wonderful time. The campsite was close to the river and we loved the private showers. The Lodge is really nice and the organised game drive into the park was great. The manager, John, made our stay very special. He could not have been more accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The other staff were also great and the guys looking after the campsite really took good care of us, especially Stanley. We mostly did our own food, but had one meal at the Lodge which was lovely, although it would be great to have a vegetarian choice. Overall we have no complaints and loved every minute. Thank you!

Awesome place. Small, friendly- owners mix with guests, making us feel special. So spoilt with every home comfort despite being on the banks of the zambezi and miles from civilization ( thankfully). Chalets are stunning. I can't think of any negative comments

Had a wonderful time we went Tiger fishing, On a Game drive and a River cruise Lovely lodge with very friendly staff everyone was helpful The Guides on the game drive and the Skipper on the fishing boat were top notch really knowledgeable Great owners Lyn and Brett really made me feel at home Good food and ice cold beer just what you need after a day’s fishing on the lower Zambezi. The wildlife we saw was amazing Lions, Elephants,Hippos,Buffaloes, plenty of different species of Buck, lots of Birds and Crocodiles lazing on the river bank. There’s warthogs and monkeys around the camp and a occasional Elephant wanders through. The accommodation was very good and the pool was great to cool off in.

We stayed at Mvuu Lodge for three nights and we couldn't recommend the place more highly. The staff were at all times friendly, polite and helpful. Thank you to Lynne and Brett Brannigan for their very warm hospitality. We stayed in one of the chalets and Clayson looked after us really well including ensuring we got back to our room safely every night. We got to know the sounds of the hippos in the water and munching grass near the chalets at night. The restaurant area is a wonderful place to relax during the day, read a book and take in the sights of the Zambezi river. The food was great and plentiful and Cosmos was attentive to every detail in the restaurant. He very generously taught us some basic phrases of greetings in the local language of the next place we were going to visit. Ackim, a very experienced guide, took us for a sunset cruise and a day-long safari trip by jeep. With his help we saw lots of elephants, birds, some lions and different breeds of deer. He explained the medicinal properties of some of the trees we saw along the way. Overall an excellent experience for us a Mvuu Lodge and a wonderful introduction to Zambia for us. “You have to leave” After a long day of driving through the Lower Zambezi National Park in our camping vehicle, we wanted to spend the night at the campsite of Mvuu lodge on the banks of the Zambezi river in Zambia. The sun was about to set soon and we were relieved to reach the entrance to Mvuu campsite in order to set up camp as fast as possible before it was dark. At the entrance we met a staff member and asked, if it would be ok to first set up camp and check in at the reception afterwards. He said no problem and pointed us into the direction to the campsite. Unfortunately none of the campsites were right at the river but behind the chalets. We looked around for a suitable camping spot until the campsite attendant told us that we should not walk around, because of the dangerous elephants who killed a visitor not too long ago at their campsite. The attendant showed us a spot and started to bring some firewood. After 10 minutes we were ready to go to the reception. On the way there we met a man, who said he is the Manager of the Lodge (Mr. Nibby) and asked what we were doing here. We said we are camping have found our spot and wanted to check in. For some unknown reason the Manager was not happy and quite unfriendly. He asked, why we did go to the campsite and not to the reception first. I told him, that we asked his staff for permission prior and were shown to the campsite. He said there were other guests coming and that there was no space for us and continued with the words “You have to leave”. I was flabbergasted - living, working and travelling all these years through Southern Africa, I have never met such an unhospitable person. He continued arguing that we should not have gone to the campsite and was not interested that his own staff member directed us there. At that time it was dark. The campsite area was huge and we asked, if we could stay at another spot. He said there is no space – we should leave! No alternative was offered, not even a space at the corner of their big campground or at one of the chalets. There was no other campsite around in that area and this guy did sent us finding another place leaving us no other option but to wild camp. I have never written a review before, this is my first time because I did find this incident unbelievable. This man should change his job – hospitality is not for him!
