Babadan Hotel & Apartments

Arrived at the apartments after a week on a TUI cruise. We only wanted a base as we were going out to the beach and shopping during the day. The apartment we had was huge with a large bedroom, seperate living room with kitchen and two balcony’s. Clean and had microwave, toaster and kettle. Basic two ring hob to cook on but no oven. TUI makes no mention of the steep spiral staircase that you have to climb up to access the room. Okay for us but not for anyone with mobility issues or small children. Staff were friendly despite us not staying round the pool during the day. Our issue was the noise on an evening. There is a bar across the road which has loud music and karaoke. Even worse was Romance bar which was further down the street but blasted the music out until at least 1am every night. We had luckily brought some ear plugs with us. Without them we would have not been able to sleep as the music was so loud. Was okay for the 4 nights we stayed but I would not return again.

I have stayed at the Babadan for close to 15 years , sometimes with a larger group and sometimes as a couple . We have seen the apartments grow over the years - and have always felt that the improvements have been for the better . Understandably , we may see things differently to first time visitors, we know how things work there & despite many staff changes over the years we still see some familiar faces . I have been shocked to see some reviews about cleanliness as we have always found the rooms to be spotlessly clean - as self catering apartments we understand that the rooms don’t get a full clean each day ( just the bins and bed straighten up ) , however if you felt you needed further cleaning then please just ask . Sonya has been working there on the rooms since our first visit in 2010 & she is a beautiful soul & happy to help. Likewise , if you need more towels ask - I’m shocked I have to say this part .. but please ask politely , in the future way you would expect to be asked yourself - this year the lack of manners or even basic respect for the staff was awful to see . The staff work hard in the heat , and do a good job . Over the years we have stayed in all room types - this was our first ground floor (16) and is our fav . Many either don’t know or have forgotten that self catering isn’t remotely like a hotel - so expecting a hotel experience is naive . The bar & restaurant have continued to grow - the shelter from the sunshine is very welcome - we often sat and had a few coffees or beers to be out of the heat . It was lovely to see Mustafa who we first knew there on our first visits - he still has the same humour - and is working hard to keep the guests happy , again at times that’s not easy when people are being unnecessarily rude or difficult . We don’t visit every year - but we will be back again to see our friends . The Babadan is clean , has 4 clean well maintained pools , we have never had to fight for a sun lounger and really well located .
