We came to the pub for lunch and we were not disappointed. It was a freezing cold day, but there was a log fire burning and a very warm and friendly atmosphere. The place was full of olde world charm, which I loved. If you want modern, go to a new pub! We wanted to try the infamous steak and kidney puddings, so we both ordered one. The meal was HUGE. More than that, there was lots of really tender steak and kidney in a delicious gravy, all wrapped up in a light suet pudding case. I hadn’t had anything like it since my childhood - 5 decades ago! The mash was smooth and the fresh veg perfectly cooked. I couldn’t fault the dish at all - only to say that we were too full up to try a dessert. The staff and locals were friendly and welcoming. Do visit here if you’re in the area.

The hospitality, service and food was fabulous. We were made to feel so welcome and this combined with delicious home cooked food really enhanced our weekend break. So much so we dined there the second night too enjoying other splendid dishes on the menu. Thank You - well worth a visit.

Last minute decision to try this welcoming friendly pub for an evening meal. Good varied menu with an extensive specials board. Although we had chosen a quiet night there was still a nice atmosphere in the restaurant area of the pub ( we could have eaten in the bar but chose the restaurant) The food was really good and a credit to the chef. We will definitely be making a return visit.

We stayed for two nights recently. A lovely stay in a very pleasant, traditional pub. Very friendly landlord and staff and great pub food - lots of home made specials - all very fresh and tasty. Good breakfast
