Mollys Boutique Hotel

Also called Molly’s Boutique Hotel and accessed round the back of Molly’s Gin Place via a key box. I enjoyed staying here. The rooms are comfortable and quiet (at least on the top floor) and the decor is wild and wonderful. The location is very handy, just opposite the station and near all the nice shops.

Met by Charlene, who manages the property. Friendly efficient young lady. The bedroom was very quirky....fab bath in the bay window...no need to draw curtains as not overlooked. 'Ann Lister' room was huge, as was the queen bed. Gin Lounge looked very unique, unfortunately closed as refurb/change over, so will return. 3 mins walk to center of Ilkley.

We had a few issues during our stay , no heating , poor dim lighting which made getting ready difficult. No blinds or voile on a large bay window overlooking a main roundabout with a bath was “interesting” The owners sorted out the heating quickly to be fair. The main issue was the open toilet - no privacy at all . Not conducive to a couples break. Just no 😕 noisy builders started at 8 am. Interesting concept but won’t be staying again . Sorry

This stay was very different from anywhere we have been before. Our usual preference is country pubs, but we thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Gin Lounge. Our room was quirky & unique, very spacious, clean & comfortable. The bar was quiet this Thursday night, but the bar manager was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, making us feel very relaxed. There is no food available, but the options in Ilkley are excellent. The restaurant we ate at was only a 5 minute walk away.

My attempts to discuss my experience have been ignored, hence this review: We booked the ‘The Deluxe Madam Kelly Suite’. We had to cut the stay short due to the following safety issues: • The tiny room was on the attic floor accessed by a narrow steep six storey staircase. • The staircase was very dark with small table lamp lighting, the finials on some of the bannisters were loose. • We could not find safety instructions however, there seemed to be a fire extinguisher pushed to the side of tatty sofa. • The room window was so small in the event of fire it would have been impossible for evacuees to escape, coupled with the fact the window was obstructed by contractor scaffolding. • The electrical appliances were dubious with an extension lead and duct tape on the wiring. • The front door entrance was locked by an advertising board. In addition, it would take someone with a very vivid imagination to describe our room as de-luxe (Oxford dictionary defines deluxe as: Luxurious, Sumptuous; of a superior kind). • The bedding was poor quality, grey and worn, definitely not made of linen as described. • The mattress springs had failed making the bed uncomfortable. For some strange reason the bed was very low to the floor. • The toilet had an extremely noisy macerator pump that ran for 10 minutes each time it was flushed (not conducive for a good night’s sleep). • The ‘True Edwardian fashion’ promised on the Gin Lounge website did not translate to our room. It seemed to be filled with old brown battered furniture from various eras sourced from junk shops shoved in. • The soft furnishings were cheap and tired making the room stuffy and stale; the only place to hang clothes was on old worn hooks behind the doors and a thin curtain rail which was loose off the wall.

We based ourselves here for a birthday getaway. A great walk on the moors worked up a nice thirst for a couple of excellent G&T’s in the quirky bar downstairs. We had a top floor room with great views over the town. The bed was a big sumptuous brass one. The free standing roll top in the window added a touch of opulence enhanced the experience. All the decor was stylish with many hand crafted items. Paintings, period photos, old meters, plumbing fittings. As good a room as we have ever stayed in.
